This included . a prayer of" thanksgiving, reading on gratitude and singing a hymn. Mrs. Harry Girvin presided for the business part of the meeting. The roll call was answered by a. "Cure for the Blues" and was answered by 14 ladies. The secretary's report was read by Mrs. Alvin Kerr. Qorrespondence included an invitation from Auburn U.C.W. to -attend their meeting Wednesday, October 22 at 8.15 p.m. . The sectional meeting will be held in Benmiller October 24, registration at 9.15. All are urged to attend. An appeal from the Children's Aid Society for assistance at Christmas w -as discussed and $25 noted to this worthy .cause. The new Mission and Service Fund of the church to replace the M and M unified budget fund was explained in a letter read by the secretary. Mrs. Allan Dickson discussed plans for the Tupperware Demonstration to be held in the • church Wednesday, Oct.' 15 at 8.15 p.m. It was decided to continue helping the Sunday Sc -Tool with pins and bars. Jim McMillan of Goderich. visit Ottawa BY CATHERINE RUSSELL Eighty-six honour students fromtG.D.C.I. enjoyed a trip to Ottawa this month. Travelling by train, the group, supervised by Mr. and Mrs. Claude Kalbfleisch and Mr. and Mrs. Clarke 'Teal, left Stratford on the evening of Wednesday, October 1 and arrived in Ottawa at 6:20 a:m. on Thursday. A morning tour of the Parliament buildings was cut short by the arrival of Andrei Gromyko, the Soviet 'foreign minister. A number of Canadian C-ommunists, Chinese sympathizers, demonstrated against Mr. Gromyko on Parliament , Hill, providing a spectacle much more interesmg than any tour could ever be. The 'afternoon included tours of the Royal Mint and the Wax Museum. The evening was free for shopping, sightseeing, or, swimming in the pool at the Chateau Laurier, where the students stayed. Most. of Friday morning was taken up with a bus tour of greater Ottawa. The students had the afternoon to do as they wished. Tile group toured the Museum of Science and Technology in the evening and from there, went directly to Union Station: They left Ottawa at 11:30 p.m. and , travelled all night on the train, arriving at Goderich before noon on Saturday. The trip is an annual event for students who receive an average of 75 percent or over and is sponsored by the Huron County Board of Education! Students of the honour list are as follows.
