The Redmen started out like they came to play, picking up a single point on the opening kickoff by ,Steve Boyco. Boyco, who kicks barefooted, hoofed one deep .into. the Viking's end zone and the Redmen got down field quickly to trap the Viking's receiver. However, as the afternoon 'went on, it became obvious that Boyco's bare foot was ' the only scoring threat the Redman had going for them. The Vikings had little success with their passing attack, but moved the ball well on the ground after Coach Wayne Horner instructed quarterback Tom Crawford to switch to the running attack. a 9 The Redmen, like other teams in the league, have gained a healthy respect for end Jon Ginn's pass catching ability, and they had three-man coverage on Ginn all afternoon. The Redmen failed to adjust their -defence -when -the Vikings switched to the ground, with the result that Goderich, with Dale Wardley pinning outside, and Draper and Lounsbury inside, maintained control of the ball throughout most of the game. The Vikings picked up 17 first downs, compared to Clinton's four. The closest the Redmen got to pay dirt was the Vikings 40 yard line, and that was only with the help of a coaching penalty _ assessed against the Viking's head coach, Wayne Horner. After trailing • briefly 1-0 following the opening kickoff, the Vikings scored a converted touchdown to take a lead that they added to as the game went on. Gary Lounsbury's six yard sweep accounted for the first T.D. He converted it himself. Boyco's talented toes got the Redmen's second and final single point, and the Vikings led 7-2 after the kickoff opening the second half of the play. Goderich scored two touchdowns in the third quarter. The first was on •an eight yard run by Lounsbury, while the O.H.A. JUNIOR 'B' HOCKEY second resulted from a 22 yard -gallop—by Dale Wardley Tht Vikings finished off the scoring in the final quarter when Wayne Draper took the ball in from the six. It was converted- by Lounsbury to give the Vikings their 30 point margin of victory. The Vikings do not play at home this week. They travel to Listowel today (Thursday) to do battle with the ' Whitemen, another unbeaten, untied team in the Huron -Perth Conference, with a record identical to the Vikings - three wins in -three outings. In the Junior game, the Goderich Viking Juniors carne up with their strongest effort of the campaign when they blanked the Clinton Junior Redmen 40-0. Bruce Bowman led the way with three touchdowns, while Gord McLellan with two, and Doug Fisher with one completed the major scoring.
