DR. H. HUGH MacKA'Y
'Dr. Hector Hu• gh MacKay,
MSA, PhD, of Richmond Hill,
died in Riverdale Hospital,
Toronto, on• September 16,
1969, following a lengthy illness.
Dr. MacKay was, born in
Goderich and was a son of the
late Donald MacKay,. •
,Dr. MacKay held his masters
degree and doctorate for the
University of Toronto and was
supervisor of fisheries with the
Ontario Department of Game
and Fisheries until his retirement
in 1963. He • had served the
department for 37 years.
He was the author of the
book "Fishes of Ontario"
published in 1963 by the
department.
He had been president of the
American Fisheries Society,
-194748-, and was given" an
honorary membership in. the
society at its annual meeting in
1960. He was only the third
Canadian to be given the honor
in the 90 -year history of the
society.

In Presbyterian ;Church
activities he had been an elder of
the church, clerk of the sessions,
treasurer, trustee, member of the
board of managers and Sunday
School superintendent.
He was a member of the
o Lions Club and held a perfe.t
attendance record and had
served as president of , f.he
Richmond Hill Club and as
district governor of A-7.
He is survived by his wife., the -
former Elsie McCall; a son,
Walter; a .daughter, .Mary ; and
two grandchildren. Ile' was the
brother of the late John and
Norman MacKay of Goderich
and the uncle of Don and
Marion MacKay, Goderich.

18, with cremation following..
Rev. Williain Wallace officiated,
assisted by John Moorhead,
clerk of the sessions, who read
the lesson.
There were 10 honorary
pallbearers• in addition to the
usual pallbearers:

Mrs. Jean Clark Malott,
.Ottawa, formerly of Essex, died
suddenly in Ottawa, Sept. 20,
1969.
Mrs. Malott yeas the wife of
the late Raymond S. Malott of
Essex (1956). She isl survived by
two daughters, Mrs. T. A.
Richardson (Evelyn) of Essex,
Mrs. J. R. Crouchman (Bobby)
of Toro to, 10 grandchildren,
one great grandchild and three
sisters, Mrs, Harold L. Hickey
(Allena) of 'Denver, Cot., Mrs.
Hugh R.- Johnston (Mary) of
Essex, and Miss Evelyn Clark of
Ottawa. The funeral service was

Mrs. Malott was born in
Goderich, the eldest daughter of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Clark, and was a frequent visitor
to town during the summer
months.
CHARLES FREDERICK MACEY
Charles Frederick Macey, 195
Newgate Street,' died at
Alexandra Marine and General
Hospital on Sunday September
28• after a lengthy illness. He was
59.
Mr. Macey was born , in
Toronto on May 28, 1910, a son
of Frederick and Rebecca
Macey. He was married to the
former Wilhelmina Noack in
Tavistock on January 19, 1946
and they came to Goderich. 18
years ago. He was a member of
the Pentacostal Church.
Surviving are his wife; three
sons, David, Frederick and
Robert, at home; one daughter,
Jean, Stratford and one brother,
Ernest, Toronto.
The funeral service was held
at Stiles Funeral home at 2 p.m.
on Wednesday, October 1. Rev.
R. ,Clark and Rev. R. Nicholls
officiating. ^ -
Interment was in Colborne
Cemetery. Pallbearers were
Thomas Cooke, William Hughes,
Les Pentland, Gordon Stewart;
R., H. Cornish and William Hoy.

Gtodericlr Kinette Club was held
at the Kinsmen• Playground on
Monday, September 29, with
prospective Kinettes as guests. "
During the business part of
the meeting, • the club agreed to
sponsor a student at the Adult
Training Centre for a year.
The club is making a quilt in
the oak leave and acorn pattern

A .44 calibre revolver, found by two local boys on the banks or
the Maitland River last Saturday, touched off an Investigation by
the Goderich Police Department and resulted in two local
juveniles being charged with theft. Police officers found that the.
rear door of the CNR warehouse had been forced and the
shipment of. small arms shown above had been stolen along with a
muzzleloading rifle and four bullet moulds. The revolvers and the
rifle were found on the river bank; the bullet moulds had not
been recovered at press time. All the firearms are reproductions

teams, sponsored by the club,
wound -up the season on
September 22 with the
Blockbusters winning out over
the Swingers for the
championship.
Following the game all
members and coaches were
invited to the . Kinsmen
playground for a , ball party
where -they were, iv.e1Cpined by
Kinette president Mrs. Anne
Doherty.

Each umpire was presented
with a crest and was thanked by
the president and the teams,
showed their appieciation-to the
coaches, their assistants and to
Mrs. Jean Cruickshank, who
organized the' girls softball for
the year.
Crests were presented to each
team member as follows: 'Jets,
presented by Florence
Cummings; Swingers, presented
by Jeanne McCauley; Bombers,
presented by Ev ,Gardiner and
Blockbusters, presented by
Donna Lynne Lamont.
Championship , bars were
presented by Jean Cruickshank
to the Blockbusters.
Everyone was .served with
barbecued hot dogs and pop and
Mickie Cruickshank of the
champion Blockbusters squad
thanked the Kinettes on behalf
of the . players for making the
teams possible.
