Vokes was away for five days visiting some Of his. former Indian patients at Christian Island Reserve. Earl Yule is this • week employed, at Timagami in the northern silver mining region. Mr. and Mrs. Thos. 'Webster visited on Sunday with their daughter, Mrs. Bill Bradley who is a patient in Goderich Hospital. Visiting with their grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Bill Wiggins for the weekend were Earl and Jane Ribey of Seaforth. Visitors recently with Mrs. Minnie Jones and Mel have been Mr. and Mrs. Oakman Kennedy of Pickford, Mich., and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon.. Wall, Brian and Douglas of Langside. Mrs.. Harry Girvin welcomed all those present including Rev. and Mrs. C. McClenaghan. The worship service 1 {was taken by Mrs. Jack Alton. Mrs. Ivan , Rivett and Mrs. Allan Dickson;'- . On Sunday Mrs. Harry Anderson of Lucknow visited with Mrs. Ryan. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Young spent Sunday in London. Word has been received here of the death , on Sunday September 14 in Victoria Hospital, London, of Mrs. Cliff (Irene) Begley. Her death follows heart surgery three weeks ag . - The- funeral services were h 1 on Wednesday afternoon at 3.30 in Leamington. Her cousins, many of whom attended the funeral, are the family of the late Mr. and Mrs. Richard ?ark. Mr..and Mrs. John Park visited with John on Sunday in Victoria Hospital and report him to be remaining in cheerful disposition despite a four hour operation on Tuesday. The surgery composed of cutting into the bone and inserting a 161/2 foot rod from knee to hip. It is hoped this will heal quicker as traction wasn't proving successful. This rod will remain in the leg for two, years when more • surgery will be required. meets with Nile 1 1\ -M _ Rev. Omer L. Henderson Newchurch organized The Church of God was recently organized in Goderich- with 16 members. The new Ppstor is the Rev. Omer L. Henderson from. London. Some people` from Goderich recently approached Mr. Henderson,. pastor then of the Sanders Street Church of God in 'London, requesting that • he make an effort fo secure for o them. a Bible believing, spiritual gir inded Pastor. Mr. Henderson said he felt the call to come to Goderich himself and resigned the,Sanders Street Church which he had pastored for three and one half years. Before moving to London, Mr. Henderson served-- as - associate Pastor in the Benton Harbor, Michigan, Church of God. He also served as . the district youth director in that Dungannon members on "How to help the needy." Mrs. Howard Johnston presided for the business. Mrs. R. McDonald gave a wool quilt top to the U.C.W. which is to ,be quilted. Plans were made for a wedding supper to be served in the church on September 20. A new vacuum cleaner is to be purchased for use in the Church. One hundred more cook books are to be made up for sale. The collection was taken and dedicated by Mrs. G. Finnigan. Mr. McClenaghan closed the meeting with prayer. A social half hour fqllowed when. lunch was served by three ladies from -Dungannon and Nile. Nifty Needlettes with 27 girls enrolled. The Needlettes divided into three groups with leaders as follows: Group 1, Mrs. Leonard Rodges, Mrs.. Elgin Cox; group 2, Mrs. John Westbrook, Mrs. Alvin Battles; group 3, Mrs: Eldon Yeo --and Mrs. Keith Miller. The projectselected in needlecraft which is designed to help the girls develop ' skills in color and design in embroidery. For the second meeting the roll call's was answered with "Learning Stitches" articles the , girls have chosen and each girl showed the colour she had selected. The blanket stitch was demonstrated by the leaders and colour and design were discussed. The third meeting will be held Monday,: September . 22 at Holmesville School when the girls will meet with groups from Goderich, Clinton and Seaforth. We opened with the 4-H Pledge, then held the election of officers: president, , Cathy Culbert; vice-president, Karen Rivett; secretary -treasurer, Peggy Young; press. reporter, Charlene Adams. Then we handed out our Member's Pamphlet and discussed what we were to bring to the next meeting which was an embroidery work box which contains embroidery thread, embroidery needles, thimble, scissors, ruler, pencils, pins and embroidery hoop. Then • we discussed what color of cloth we .would order. The second meeting of the Dungannon Home Makers " was held Monday, September 15, at the home ,of Mrs. Ivan Rivett, leader. • The meeting was opened with the 4-H Pledge. The secretary's report was then read by Peggy Young. Mrs. Rivett and Mrs. Young demonstrated how to cut our material, how, to pull a thread from a skein, how to thread a needle, how to start and finish a thread. Our group worked on our, samples and started . our Table Runner. Debbie Olson closed the meeting with the 4-H Creed. Our next meeting will be held September 22 at the home of Mrs. Ivan Rivett at 7:30.p.m. BRIDGE SCORE There were five taVles in play Tuesday night for the regular bridge games. Winners and their scores were as follows: Mrs. Frank Reid and Mrs. Bruce Erskine, 66'2 points; Mrs. John Stringer and Mrs. Ron McDonald, 641 points; Art Wilson arid Omer Hazelgrove, 64 points; Mrs. Bud Worthy and Mrs. Bill Duncan, 63 points.
