Education, at its last meeting
held in. the Board Room of
Central 'Huron Secondary
School, Clinton, voted 9.3 to
adopt the report of the salary
committee appointed forthe
purpose.
Objection taken by John
13roadfo4i,, RR 1, Brucefield,
was that ` we are offering more
money than asked for and I
nkthe fringe benefits out of
Sider for part-time ertiployees."
This applies chiefly to bits
drivers hired by the board.

Huron 'County Board of
F�ducation is likely to receive a
report at the September 15
meeting on salary negotiations
with the board's 341 elementary
teachers, Robert M. Elliott, RR
3, Clinton, chairman of the
Elementarl School Teachers'
Negotiating " Committee,
informed the press following last
week's Board meeting in Central
Huron Secondary School,
Clinton.
"It would be out of order to-
make
omake -a statement unless 48
hours' notice had been given the
teachers," he said. The
committee had met the teachers'
committee only the night
befof•e. However, he anticipated
an early report.
Apparently, negotiations are
still proceeding with the
secondary school teachers,
John B. , Lavis, Clinton,
chairman, told the press that
many county boards of'
education in Ontario have not
yet reached salary agreements,
and that such a situat'n had not
been. unusual
John B. Levis, Clinton, . Wingham, at the salary range of
chairnian, pointed out that the $90 to $95 per week. It also
total increase for 37 bus drivers approved a recommendation
was $2,950 which works out to that Moffatt, Custodian at J.

drivers be paid .$211 per month •
and allother board -employed
bus drivers be paid $170 per
month. Each bus driver will be
allowed 10 days' sick leave per
year for which the boob&would
pay a replacement drivel .ilt the
rate of $8.50 per day. ;At. the
erld of the school year, each of
these . will be paid a bonus of
$8.50. per day for the unused
balance of sick 'leave.
It also was. decided that bus
drivers be paid $2.25 per hour
with a minimum of $5 per trip
for driving buses on which pupils
are being taken on field =trills.
Recbmmendation of Robert
'M. MacVean, chief engineer of
the board, in connection with
salaries paid to ,,engineers, was
accepted, bat no further
information was provided.
For X11 non -teaching
employees, the board will pay
50 per cent of the premium for a
group term life insurance policy
in the amount of $10,000' for
male employees and $5,000 for •
female employees.

in connection with the proposed
salaries for cafeteria staffs,
librarian assistant; and
• audio-visual aid technicians, was
not contained in the formal
report but was made in
committee of the whole at the
last meeting. This information
will be available ' at the next
meeting on September 15.
On recommendation of
committee of the whole, the
board ratified hiring Mrs. June
Cooper as clerk -typist
(purchasing and services) at $70
per week, and Miss'Joan Garvie
for the upcoming term at the F.
E. Madill Secondary School,
