The big. week -end coming up
will be a Big weekend as far as
sports are concerned. And I
think we are all good •SPORTS -
and should be concerned.
s' With. Goderich being the
"home" of Pee Wee Hockey
Week, I have often wondered
why we had n9 special "Week"
in summer sports.
The Industrial Ball League is
having a tournament on this
week -end, and if it is a success'.
,,hlis.•yearit will bean annual
event. I think it is up to us "tO -
help make it a success. •
For this tournament .there
will be '12 teams, at least,
entered and they will represent
▪ London, Wingham, Stratford,
. / Varna, Exeter, with four teams
from Goderich. Invitations went
out to Kincardine and Durham,
- but I'm not sure of these
teams, but doesn't that sound
GREAT? This is the kind of ball
• playing that is really liyely. You
will see near professional playing
that is a heck of a lot more
exciting than anything you see
on the T.V. and what's more,
you are INVOLVED - you are:
part of it. You can shout and
jump up and -down and feel that
• this is YOUR team and YOU are
helping them to win.
When did you last heckle an
- umpire or razz a player - all
part of the game - I don't hear
you doing that when you are
watching the ball game -
• horizontal - in your living
room!
The contest starts Sunday
afternoon and carries on to
Monday beginning at 9 a.m. So
take your lunch!
