The kids .were treated to a peanut scramble as well as a bountiful supply of ice cream and cake. Ladies Soft Ball Throw — Rose Sheardown and June McLean. - Bean festival scheduled Zurich's population is likely to increase more than tenfold a week from Saturday- when the village and surrounding district hold their fouth annual bean festival. The only event of its kindin Ontario, the day -long festival will feature beans cooked on the. , village' streets in huge kettles on tripods and served wvith delicious sliced ham, cole -slaw and buns. Packages of white beans will. be sold and a Lions Club auction sale starts at 1- p.m. Rides through the area on buses and tractor -drawn wagons will give visitors a chance to view beans in - various stages of growth and harvesting. Huron County farm products on sale will include Qutch apple pie,. honey* and sausage. A ,pre -festivals. dance—Friday night will be highlighted by selection of a• bean queen. TIME IS MONEY MRS. JOSEPH JAM MOO.D,Y - Mrs. Joseph thanes Moody, 196 Warren Street, died suddenly at Alexandra Marine and General Hospital_ on Wednesday August 6. she was 72. , Mrs. Moody was born in Hullet Township on June 5 1597, a daughter of Walter Cuhningham- and the former Hannah Riddell. Mrs. Moody, the former Pearl Agnes.. Cunningham, was married. to Joseph James Moody on August 5, 1960, at Gdderich. She was employed for 10 years at F. 'E. -Hibbert and Son, and was a member of North Street United Church. _Surviving with, her husband are, two sons, Allan-traugi ii, Clinton; and Edward Straughan, London; step son Herb Moody, St. Thomas; four daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Jacobson, Goderich; Mrs. Eva Mohring; Goderich; Mrs. Frank (Dorothy) Allen, . Crystal Beach; Mrs. Ed (Betty) Strub, Kitchener; two step daughters, Florence Moody, Goderich; and Mrs. Harry (Joan) Thompson, Clinton; one brother, Guy Cunningham, Auburn; and a sister, Mrs. .Russell (Elizabeth) ' Garrison, Kitchener. The funeral service was held at ,Stiles Funeral Home at 2 p.m. on ,Friday August 8. Rev. W. J. Maines officiated. The Rebekah Lodge No. 89 held a service at the „funeral home on Thursday evening, August 7. Interment was in Maitland' Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ronald Webb, Paul Webb, Bud Allen, Bryan Strub, Fred Mohring, and Paul Moody. Flowerbearers were Larry Webb, Walter Allen, David Strub, „ Barry Mohring, Steven Webb, and Teddy Straughan. t GODERICH .Soccer semi-finals result in 1-1 tie In the 4lrst game of the semi-finals for the Legion Cup, the Legion Cherubs and the Lion Hearts battled to .a 1-1 tie at Agricultural' Park last, Thursday. night. The Lion Hearts lead most of the way but Sam Meriam scored late in the game for the Cherubs to make the draw. Danny Duncan scored for the Lion Hearts early in the first half. The deciding game in the series will be played tonight at 7 p.m: , VICS VICTORIOUS In the other semi-final that was *played last Monday, the Kinsmen Victorians came out victorious over the Knights 1-0. The Vics lone marker wasscored by Dawson Lamb and came midway through the second half. The Vics were hard pressed to hold on to their slim lead but hold they did. This was a close hard fought contest throughout showing a great, deal of fast, clean- soccer. The Kinsmen squad 'now await the winner of the other semi-final series. Personals Mt, and Mrs.!
