WALKERBURN CLUB Members of the Walkerburn club and their families enjoyed a" family picnic recently in the Auburn Cornmunity Memorial Hall nrith a large attendance. The afternoon was started with a smorgasbord lunch. The program was @ led ' by the president, Mrs. Ted- Hunking. ° She led a sing -song with Mrs,• Brian Hallam at the piano. The group sang "Happy Birthday" for Tom Cunningham who was presented with the birthday prize. Bert Hunking won the prize for being the eldest person . present and the anniversary prize went to Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Gross. MARY LAMBERTUS 'CELEBRATES 83RD .BIRTHDAY A quiet 83rd birthday ,was celebrated by Mrs. Mary Latnbertus- at her home on Thursday, August 7th. Not too many neighbours knew it was her -birthday -• only because she wanted it that way. No fuss for her - that's the way it's always been!. Energy, determination and independence lie beneath a short sturdy frame. Although she uses a cane° to help herself around: she refuses to let the `years roll by without continuing some summer canning and preserving. Pickles were bottled this past week and now she's waiting for the early crop of peaches. "They're the best," she said. to her daughter, Mrs. Irene Dalton. "And if you fardon't get me some. I'll get them myself." • ' Mrs. Lambertus grew up in a family of three °children on a' farm in the vicinity of Chepstow. Being, the only girl. , there was • always lots of work, . for her in the home: • On June 21, 1910 she • .married Herman Lambertus. They had seven children, six girls and •one • boy. Mr. Lambertus died two years ago. OBITUARY MRS. AMELIA RYAN On Tuesday, August 5th, Mrs. Amelia Ryan passed away in Wingharn and District Hospital. Her funeral and Mass Were held in the Sacred Heart Church, Walkerton on Friday.
