The Goderieh Rangers Soccer

Tom Love scored both
markers for Goderieh. The first
came at the seven minute mark
of the first. period. The Sarnia;
club had been pressing Goderich
goaltender Carl. Moller during
the early mint.ites of the game
and forced him to make some
stand -out saves. Clearing the ball
from off the foot of an attacker,
Moller high -kicked over the half
way line forcing a scrimmage
between Goderlch attackers and
Goderich Rangers defeated Sarnia Briarwood Rangers 2-1 Saturday in a game at
Ag ricultural Park. Tom Love, right in striped jersey, looks back at, a beaten Sarnia
goalkeeper after scoring his second goal of the day. Brother George, extreme left had
picked up a pass from Tony Verheof who is shown with arms raised in jubilation at
the goal. Verheof hit Tom Love with a pass, Love beat the;goalkeeper who was well
out of the goal, and found -the net with a knee high drive. His team mates followed the

Gottschalk managed to clear the
ball to Tom Love at left wing,
Love dribbled _passed one
defender, crossed behind a
second, passed to brother
George' who deeked one
defender and passed back to
Tom Love. With the goalkeeper
drawn out of the net by the play
of George Love, Tom Love made.
no mistake and it was ° one
nothing for Goderich.
Goal number two carne on a
similar play with the ball being
taken from the Sarnia team by
Evert Middel who headed the
ball to Tony Verheof; Verheof
made a quick play to George
Love who -again pulled the
Sarnia defence, leaving Tom
Love unmarked on the wing. A
hard, knee high shot hit the back
of the net with the goaltender
20 yards from home.
Sarnia's lone marker was in
the back of the Goderich, net at
the eight minute mark of the
second period off the 'foot of
centre forward Rick Bryant.

„ Moller had a race for the ball
after'a centre field tussel sent
r' the ball into the Goderich end
with the defence off -guard.
. Moller and. Bryant ;met at the 18
yard line . and the ball was
Moller's until it took a hop over
his 'head leaving the centre
forward an open goal to hit.
A new -comer to the Goderich
squad, Rolph Goltschalk, kept
the Sarnia defence hopping with
NS play and the Sarnia
goalkeeper was hard put to'hold
back some of the shots from the
16.year old inside left.
Rick Fisher, who also joined
the team this year, played a
steady game holding up his end
• at centre half,' substituting for
Howie Gottschalk.

newcomers ..to the, Goderich
Rangers Soccer club, is about 16
and doing well for the club. Last
Saturday he made some
outstanding plays that ended in
goals for Goderich who finished
