the West Wawanosh Township
Municipal Council was held at
the Hall on Tuesday evening,
fully 8,. with all members in
attendance.
The minutes of the June
meeting were read and adopted
on motion of Councillors
McDonald and Aitchison.
Oscar de Boer, bank manager
of Auburn, attended the meeting
and dlseussed interest rates,
drain .-by-laws and the financial
position of the township with

Three drain by-laws were
given first and second readings

carried. These were: By-law No.
7, ,1969, The Purdon Drainage
Works By-law; By-law No. 8,
1969, The MacTavish Drainage
Works By-law; and By-law No. 9,
1969, The Anderson Drainage
Works By-law.
Jos. Hickey and Neil
Stapleton appeared before
council with a request that
council endorse a petition for
presentation to the C.R.C.S.S.
Board of Huron -Perth for an
additional representative from
the Kingsbridge area on the
board. Council complied and all
members signed the petition.
The road accounts were
ordered paid on motion .of
Councillors Rutherford and
Aitchison.

Weekend
accidents
to meet
. Two accidents over the
weekend resulted in injury to a
•woman and $2,500 to the
vehicles involved.
Pauline Rosalee Kobylasz, St.
Clare, Mich. sustained facial cuts
'when the car she was driving was
in collision with a second car on
highway 21 near Sky Ranch
Restaurant. She was treated at
Alexandra Marine and General
Hospital and released. Driver of
the other car, Barbara Pollock,
RR 5, Goderich, was uninjured.
The accident happened at
8:25 p.m.' •
An earlier accident on
highway 21, three miles south of
Goderich, involved three cars,
totalled $1,500 damage yet no
one was injured.
The accident happened at 1
p.m.' to cars driven by Gordon
Harwood, RR 2, Goderich;
Herman Lansink, Seaforth and
Anthony Duce, Flushing, Mich.
The Duce car was most
heavily damaged.
On 'Wednesday,.July 9,
Goderich OPP investigted a fire
which destroyed a car at
Shepardton.
Francis Dewitt, Kincardine
told the investigating officer he
was driving home ori highway 21
when the fire started. He said he
pulled into a closed road and
tried unsuccessfully to
extinguish the fire.
The car was owned by Mabel
Hewitt, also of Kincardine.
The fire was reported at 5:50
p.m. Wednesday and answered
by a unit from the Goderich
Volunteer Fire Department. .

Fire Destroys Barn
A barn owned by Mr. and
Mrs. Pat O'Neil located on
highway 21 just north of St.
Joseph's. Church was destroyed
when lightening hit it during an
early morning electrical storm.
Lost in the blaze was a pull -type
combine, seed drill an$ plow.
There.. was no produce in the
barn. The machinery and
structure were partially covered
by insurance.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Doherty
visited.. on Sunday with their
daughter Cathy who has been a
patient in War • Memorial
Children's Hospital for the past
week.
Bandsmens'
reunion
The ninth Reunion of the St.
Luke's Association of Canadian
Veterans' Bandsmen will be held
in Hamilton, at the Sheraton
Connaught Hotel, Civic Holiday
Weekend, August 2-3-4.

especially the heavy brass!
Among, the events scheduled
for the reunion 'will be a general
get together and dance,

welcome!), a parade and service
at the Cenotaph on Sunday,
followed , by an afternoon
banquet.

Archie Grenier Dies
Funeral Mass was held
Tuesday, July 8 at St. Joseph's
Church here for Archie Grenier,
67, Port Albert, who died
Saturday 'at the Alexandra
Marine and General Hospital.
Surviving besides his wife, Leona
Ytiung, Port Albert and one
daughter Mrs. Albert (Annie)

Guides Go Camping
Eight girls returned home on
the weekend ' from Camp ,Glen
Mac near Seaforth after spending
three days on a camp -out. Seven
more guides from here left for
the camp on Saturday and plan
.4 -to -spend a week there.
This is a first experience for
most of ., the 1st Company
Kingsbridge Girl, Guides: When
camping the , girls live intents
and use most of the skills they
have learned during their yearly
meetings. They also make
novelty items such as wax
candles, etc. -
The eight girls who returned
on the weekend are Debbie
Maize, Ann Rising, Judy Tigert,
Cathy O'Keefe, Mary Ann
Frayne, Jo-anne and Lea Van
Diepen, and Brenda Moran.
Water Safety
The Catholic Woman's
League, Kingsbridge, acting
under the convenership Social,
Economic and Civic Life
sponsored . a - water safety
demonstration in the school gym
last Wednesday evening. Guest
speakers were George King and
Randy Scott of the Teeswater
Swimming Pool.
Betty de Bruyn Holds
Farewell Party
Betty de Bruvn was hostess at
her home last July 5th evening
in Whitechurch at a 'farewell
supper she provided for many of
her friends and fellows teachers.
After the cold turkey supper, a
baseball game was enjoyed.
Fiance, Ross Hawkins, Kingston,
showed movies of Expo '67, the
University of Guelph- Campus,

potential swimmers at the
annual K of C picnic .on Sunday.
Planned games for the children,
free pop, and • hot dogs at cost
were still enjoyed by all who
came as far away as Stratford.
No Garden Party
A Parish vote has ruled out
the possibility of having the
annual salad supper the
Kingsbridge ladies have . been•
reknown . for. Instead a
successful door-to-door canvass
was taken up a week ago last
Sunday to make up for the
funds raised through the supper.
A parish picnic will be held
- the first weekend in August and
all out of town visitors are
,invited to renew acquaintances.

visitors so far. For the past week
