Rangers defeat Delhi; record is 'best yet'
The Gocterich Rangers
defeated the German House
soccer club 2-1 in Delhi last
Saturday. .

after 10 minutes of play with a
blistering drive, from the 18 yard
line. Goderich r -imaintained
pressure on the Delhi, defence
and had ,control of the game for
most of the first half, but as the
half wasng the. end Delhi
began to ,�4vt ,, ' cbmmand. •
At t ' midway 'mark of the
second half the German club
scored a well deserved equalizer
from'the`head of centre forward
Hans Werner.
It was at this stage' of the
game that the Rangers came
'back into the fight. Rolph
Gottschalk romped up the left
wing and sent a high ball into
the net' of the German Home

This victory gave the Rangers
their best record ever, in the five
years they have been active in
London and district soccer
action givi,g them a record of
four wins two losses and two
ties,'' plus the much needed
feather in their caps by "rocking
the boat" of the "Stratford
Filchers" who are at present
enjoying in undisputed position
Kenneth Arkell appointed
district judge in B.C.
Attorney -General, Leslie R.
Peterson, Q.C., has announced
the appointment of Kenneth F:
the appointment,,
the Attorney -General said, "Mr.
Arkell is' a great addition to our
,team, as District Judge he will
providethe needs necessary for
our- continuing advancement of
the . administration of justice
within the interior of British
Columbia."
. Mr. Arkell, 38, was born in
Calgary, Alberta and received his
high-school education in
Clinton. He is an ex R.C.M.P.
officer and . former football
player with the B.C. Lions. He
obtained • a Bachelor of Arts
Degree from the University of
Western Ontario and attended
the Law School of University of
British Columbia, graduating in
1959. - It was during tris three
years at If.B.C. that he played
with the B.C. Lions.
In 1960 Mr. Arkell was called
to the British Columbia Bar and
since then has practised law in
Dawson Creek. He is a member
of the Canadian Bar Association
and president of the Cariboo Bar
Association.
Mr. Arkell is_ married and has
three children.. He is the
.youngest son of Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Arkell, of Bayfield.

last Sunday were well attended.

Our Home" and "The City of
Open Gates.'
The choir, with Mrs. Duncan
Sampson as organist, sang
anthems. 'Mrs. Wm. Scott of

morning and in the evening Rev.
