The first reunion of the John
and Ann (MacLeod) Matheson
Clan was held and the 135th
anniversary of their arrival in
Canada • observed, with • a
registration of over 225 relatives,
on Saturday, , June 28, at
Southside Park, Woodstock,
'John and Ann, with five 'of •
their children, (five ,other
children were born in Oxford
County), carne from Dornoch, .
Sutherlandshire, Scotland, in
1834, on a sailing vessel, an eight
weeks trip, and settled on a farm
on the east half of lot 24,
concession eight, West Zorra, in
Oxford County. They are buried
in the Old Log•Church cemetery.
In the Matheson Genealogy;
prepared by Rev. J. l're Stewart,
Seaforth, formerly of Goderich
and one of their descendants, are
.records of over 500 families, 20
of which live in Goderich and
vicinity, and over, 1,100
individuals:

were put to use by those going

spent the weekend with his
parents.
