Rangers defeat
Stratford 2-1
Stratford ° Fischers were
beaten by the Goderich Rangers
2-1 on Saturday 21st. This was
the first time that the league
leading ` Fischers had been
defeated in regular league play
this year.
The Rangers led 1-0 -at the
halfway mark of the game on a
perfectly executed inswinging
corner kick . taken by Tony
Vandongen. From that goal
onwards, Goderich -never at any
time looked .like losing the game,
At the 15 minute mark of the
second half, Stratford tied the
score on a goal by Jimmy Tait
who headed home from a corner
kick.
Goderich again took the lead
when John Gottschalk cracked
home a penalty kick halfway
through the second half which
put the game under wraps for
the local squad.
This game was actually one of
the easiest games that Goderich
had been involved in lately,
mainly due to some tactical
manoeuvers from the drawing
board of Coach Walter
Gottschalk, who on this
occasion, used a double defence
lineup which completely
dominated centre field, it was
the "Fischers" who "Took the
Bait" this time, and were taken
"hook, line and sinker" for the
first time this season.
A good all `round effort by
the Rangers made it 'impossible
to name stars. The halfback line
of' Ron ' MacClure, Howie
Gottschalk and Len Bakelair
was tremendous. A newcomer
from the junior ranks, Ricky
Fisher, deserves a special
mention due to the fact that in
the absence of veteran,right back
Murray McClure, Ricky made a
big job look very easy.
Walter Gottschalk's lineup -
Carl Moller, Rick Fisher, Evert

Middel, Ron McClure, Howie

Jobs for Students. Week
JUNE 30 to JULY. 5
Each year university and high school students face the prob'g of finding .
summer employment. Frequently, a summer job proviar- tho funds
necessary -for returning to school. °
• Goderich as in other communities across Canada, all indications point to
this coming summer as one of the leanest years in sortie time for students
trying to earn money during their vacations. The problem: more job -seeking
students than job vacancies.
Therefore, the Municipal Council of the Town of Goderich has directed that
the week of June 30 to July 5 be proclaimed '"GODERICH JOBS FOR
STUDENTS' WEEK."
