Brucefield Dorothy Lorraine Talbot, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Talbot, Kippen, and . William Paul Bettles, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Betties, Winthrop, exchanged marriage vows in Brucefield United Church47Iay "- 17. Rev. ';E, D. Stuart officiated at their double -ring candlelight_ ceremony at 3 o'clock, before an altar adorned with multi -colored shastadaisies in candelabra. Traditional wedding music was played by the organist, Mrs. Gerald Moffatt, Kippen. Mrs. Fred McGregor, Brucefield as soloist, .. sang "0 Perfect Love" and "The Wedding Prayer." The bride; who was given away by her father, wore a formal gown of French 1•agoda fashioned .with princess line 0 bodice, high smoke ring neckline . bordered with beaded guipure' iklace applliques, • ; e1bpw-length. Isleeves, w' front skirt starting from small bow at empire height. Lace border around the sleeves and front edge on pleat. A wattau train draped from •a large bow on the back neckline into a chapel length with a two foot split at floor length topped with a bow. Lace edging bordered the train. A cluster of lace leaves, encrusted with pearls and sequins held her bouffant veil. She carried a cascade of yellow roses highlighted by vivid dracaenas sanderiana and Canary Island ivy. Mrs. Gerald Johnson, • of Kippen, was matron of honor, and the bridesmaids were Mrs. Gary Alexander, Hensall, sister of the bride, and Miss Cheryl Muir, of Seaforth. They wore identical formal gowns of blue chiffon over yellow taffeta • giving a turquoise appearance, styled with a high neckline amid streamers draped from back neckline to the hemline. They had matching shoes and petalled headpieces with cocktail veils, • • Y v Barbara Linklater. is wed • to, John Powell North Street United Church, Goderich, decorated with standards of pink and mauve gladioli and white mums was the setting for the marriage of Barbara Jane Linklater to John Francis Powell on May 17th, 1969. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Anne Linklater and the late Francis Linklater of Goderich. The groom is the son of Mr, and' Mrs. Francis E. Powell of Clinton. Rev. Donald 'MacDonald was the officiating minister. Mrs. Eleanor°p' Hetherington was organist. ' Given in marriage by her brother Paul Linklater, the bride wore a floor Aength • dress pf white French peau de soie with an A-line skirt falling from a semi -fitted waist and a chapel train cascading from the back 'shoulder. a The bodice was highlighted by hand clipped appliques of delicate French lace strewn with tiny seed pearls. To complete her bridal outfit the , bride wore a pure. French illusion veil caught up by a band of seed pearls and crystals, and carried a crescent bouquet of white gladioli florets interwoven. with pink sweetheat roses., Miss Jennifer Linklater was her Sister's maid of honor. She was gowned in a floor Length dress of pink silk brocade with an empire waist. , Ruffles accented the neck and Sleeves. A large velvet bow with' streamers down the back and matching bow headpiece added a final touch to her ense ble. She c-arried a French hand bouquet of mauve gladioli. and carried crescents of multi -Colored shasta daisies and English ivy. Miss Tammy Alexander, niece of the bride, was flower girl and -gowned similarly to the bride: She carried a basket of multi--colored-shasta daisies and English ivv. Groomsman was Gerald Johnson, of Kippen, and ushers were Gary Betties, Seaforth, brother of the .groom, and Russell Talbot;' Kippen, brother of the bride. Following the ceremony, a dinner was held in the church parlors and a reception was held in the Zurich "Community" - Centre. The bride's .mother received the` gpesl ,tnaa;lilacitalian silk coat ale dress' ensemble with matching accessories, and a corsage of pink sweetheart roses. The groom's mother chose a turquoise crimpelene ensemble with matching ' hat and white accessories, and • a corsage of pink sweetheart roses. For a wedding trip; the bride changed to a sea foam green worsted silk coat and dress ensemble with matching hat, brown accessories, and an orchid corsage. The couple. will reside in Goderich. Prior to the marriage, the bride was entertained at showers given for her by ` Misses Beverly Brindley and Laura Walper of Goderich, and'' Mrs. Gerald Johnson, Kippen, , and Mrs. Harold Hugill, of Seaforth. Friends and neighbors held a shower at Brucefield United Church, . and Mr. and ' Mrs. Kenneth Betties entertained the bridal party at their home in Winthrop, following the wedding rehearsal. 4. ' A Mr. Larry Powell., brother of e groom was best man. Guests ere ushered by William Linklater, John Shaddick, Al ii,olston and James Fike. A reception was held. at Harbourlite inn. Mrs. Linklater, mother of the bride, received the guests wearing a gown of dusty pink linen with matching coat 'of lace. Her accessories were in color of pink and white with a corsage of white sweetheart roses tinted with pink. She was assisted by the garoom's mother wearing.. a dress of blue sculptured ciimpolene, matching coat and white accessories. fler corsage was of pink sweetheart roses. For her honeymoon the bride chose a dress of navy wool with, white and navy acceS.Sories. She wore a corsage of red sweetheart roses. • The groom is on thie staff of Olivetti Underwood of ' London and the bride is a member of staff of radon Life Ins. Co. Guests .from a distance were present fr m Ottawa, Montreal, London , tratford, Toronto, St. Marys Washington . D.C., Preston, Port Perry • and. Tillsonburg. Before her.marriage, the bride was feted at showers by the staff of Dominidn Chain Co.. Stratford, London Life Ins. Qo. London, Mrs. Dennis Fowler of Goderich, and neighbours and friends in the immediate community,of the brides homes Mr. and Mrs. Powell are residing at 900 Commissioners Road, London. Both were escorted to the platform where Mrs. Gordon Gross read an address of congratulations to the bride-to-be.
