Sixty-five members and_ guests; had a smorgasbord luncheon, • set up by the_ committee Composed of Mrs. ▪ •Gordon Taylor, Mrs. Donald Haines, Mrs. Torrence TabtiO Mrs. Norman McDowell arid Mrs. William Straughan. Mrs. George Millian was the pianist. The toast to the Women's Institute was proposed by Mrs. Wes Bradnock and responded to by Mrs. Thomas Haggitt. A short memorial service was conducted by the president, Mrs. Frank Raithby, for the late Mrs. Herbert Mogridge; a charter member, Mrs. Robert Chamney and Mrs. w..Gooclikif Blyth, a past president. Mrs. McDowell gave e tnystery prize to Mrs. Robert Turner. i The guest speaker, John Strong of Wingham, news director for CRNX radio and TV, was introduced by Mrs. , Haines. Mrs. Leonard Archambault thanked Mr. $trong for ,an interesting address ,on new de.Velopments in the , broadcasting business and presented ,him with 'a gift,. ,Mrs. Robert J. Phillips played a piano solo arid Mrs. Haines conducted a TV commerical contest ovith the winners being Mrs. Louis Blake and IVIrs. Wilfred Colclough. Mrs. Gordon 'Taylor had a minute contest and Mrs. R. Middel was the winner. Mrs. Lawrence Plaetzer expressed regret that Ws. Roy ' Easom had left our cOmmunity and on behalf of the branch *GODERICti SIONAL.STA4, 'HU DA MAY 1, 119 presented her with a gift. Mrs.. Easom thanked the members. Mrs. William Straughan's contest winner was Mrs. Easom. IVIrs. Torrence Tabb's contest was won by Mrs. Raithby. The 'district president, Mrs. Wilfred Colclough of Clinton, brought greetings Am the District of Huron V4st and Ed Davies thanked Mrs. Colclough and presented her 'with a gift. Mrs. Andrew Kirkconnell gave the cardreport and Mrs. thotnas Haggitt reported _on the Huronview meeting. ' A petition to 'keep the Don Messer show, on CBC—TV wag •circttlated and signed. The, minutes were accepted as read by the secretary, Mrs. Bert Craig, and the report of the auditors was given by Mrs. Ed Davies. Regent Mrs. A. Habel presided. Mrs. N: Clairmont, presented the flag in the absence ,, of the standard bearer. The various convenors of the departments gave .their reports.. Mrs. C. MacDonald, director of nurses at the Alexandra Marine and General Hospital was • the gnest speaker. She told of t e new' Perth -Huron Regional Scho df Nursing to be opened in September in Stratford. This — proved to- be a very interesting topic, and Mrs. MacDonald was able to answer a umber of questions put to ber .by those present. Plans, were' made. for a dessert bridge,„ 500 and euchre on May 14, with committees being named to arrange for this project. The May meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. H. B. Tichborne.
