These children need to be adopted so they will. have parents and permanent homes. The lonely ones, include boys and girls in a wide age. range from •tiny infants to 16, but thegreat majority are little boys under two. One of them is Glen, six months old; an appealing baby with„lovely 'brown eyes, scanty light brown hair and fair sensitive skin. You can't. see the dimple in his chin for the rattle, but it's there. Glen is ha v relaxed little fellow, turdil • b 'lt and in asturdily pp_ good health, though he .may be allergic to eggs. He sleeps and eats well. He loves attention and is not a bit shy. He needs to be adopted so he will have the loving, secure home most children take for granted. To inquire about adopting Glen please write to Today's Child,' Department of Social and Family Services, Par- liament Buildings, Toronto 5. For other information about adoption ask your local Children's Aid` Society. on tenders DEAR ANN» LANDERS: Please print this open letter to my boss. Dear Windbay: You are boring, egotistical, crude and shallow. You shout so people will know "the boss speaks.” You are reckless with the truth and a twister of facts. Not a single person in this office respects you. If you were not in a position of power no one would give you the time.of day. Although we greet you with a smile and laught at your bum jokes, we dislike you intensely and hope one day you will • get what's coming to you. Of course, I wouldn't dare sign this letter,. Just think of me as ONE OF YOUR LACKEYS. DEAR LACKEY: I don't know what'' prompted such a vicious attack on your boss, but it inspired the to• write' a letter to you. Dear Lack: You are phony, disloyal and gutless. GFQ" committee L:„lion County has set up its campaign committee for GFO with headquarters at Box 310 Clinton. Campaign chairman is Elmer Hunter, RR 3, Goderich. Other members are: George Robertson, RR 5, Goderich; Phil Durand, RR 2, Zurich; George Smith, RR 3, Lucknow and Jack Stafford; RR 1, Wroxeter. - Mrs. Faye Fear has been hired as secretary for the ,committee. SAFETY WEEK Child ,Safety Week, 'a major CSC public safety campaign, takes place starting May 4. It will alert parents to the hazards which cause such a high toll of child •fatalities and injuries, explain how to obviate these dangers and stress the need to teach children safety froth an early age. PREVENT CHILD .ACCIDENTS Parents and all those responsible for the welfare of children are urged to guide and protect them through their early years from the major hazards that surround them at home and at play. TRAFFIC Teach children the rules of safety on streets and roads and insist they observe and obey them at all times. See that children .acquire skill» and knowledge of l the rules of the road before letting them ride a bicycle on streets and• "roads. SUFFOCATION Never use airtight thin plastic in crib or carriage. It can suffocate a child in less than' a minute. Destroy or discard it safely. No pillow or restraining device should be used in a baby's crib, and small objects such as coins, buttons, beans and pins must be well out of reach. Propping a bottle in the crib to feed a baby is a dangerous practice° which can lead' to suffocation. Discarded and inactive refrigerators and freezers are potential death traps and should be made harmless by removing doors or securing them so that children cannot enter. DROWNINGS When bathing a small child, ignore all ' interruptions. Never leave a child alone' in a bathtub, wading pool, or any body of water, even for a minute. Teach a child how to swim at an early age and instruct him in the • basics of water safety. Children should be warned about thin ice on bodies of water, especially during the early fall and spring seasons. How much home are you missing through outdated wiring? When this house was built it was hard to imagine all the wonderful ways in which electricity would be serving us today. That's \May the wiring in so many older homes just isn't adequate for today's needs. There are many signs. Fuses blowing. Lights dimming. Appli- ances performing sluggishly. Cluttered -extension cords-. N of enough outlets. So, if you're planning to mod- ernize your home, .think first of the wiring. Have a qualified elec- trical contractor check it. You'll be surprised at hew easily and inexpensively it can be updated. Or just ask your Hydro. The Name of the Game is Electrical Living. Loyalty and integrity •1! urthermore, you sound like a four -door troublemaker a` cancer that would eat at the vitals of any organi1Qn. Elbert Hubbard said it best: "If you cannot speak well of the person you work for, clear out and work ,for someone else. Loyalty- and integrity are as important as ability and they will get you further." DEAR ANN LANDERS: Our 174ear-old son, who has always been very• quiet and obedient, a good student, and has) never caused us a minute's trouble, was visited this evening ' by." a 15 -year-old girl, her father•and their clergyman. The "meeting" was in our living room. It seeins Ernestine i&pregnant and our son is the father. I can't tell -you how shocked /we- were to get this news. Our boy was taught to respect womanhood and he showed not the slightest sign that he was interested in this girl. In fact, he said not too long ago to his father, "I don't want to go steady with anyone. I'm in no hurry to get serious. I'm going to wait until the right girl comes along." What do you - suppose happened, Ann': Where do we go from -here? — SPOKANE DEAR SPOKANE: Apparently, while your son Was waiting for the right girl to come along he decided to live it up with the wrong one. As to where you go from here — I get the impression.that your son doesn't want to marry Ernestine and I hope yoy. will not • pressure hiin to deso. A' marriage performed with a gun inChe groom's ribs has a poor chance , of survival. (statistics show that teen-age marriages with no baby on the way ,fail four times as often as marriages between couples who are over 21.) s• Your son must, of course, support his child if Ernestine decides not to go to a home for un1 _mothers and put the baby up' for adoi'fion -- which I hope she does, for the baby's sake as well as her own. you up ate rd MSIP?
