The April meeting of the
Cmmunity Club was held at the
home of Mrs. C. Whitely.
The meeting opened with 411
joining in, a singsong with Mrs.
John Westbrook at the piano.
Call to Worhsip, It is a Joyful
Easter Time, hyrnn 105 was sung
followed by Creed and Lord's
Prayer. Scripture was read by
Miss Nina Walters. Roll callwas
answered with 18 members,
three visitors with household
• hints.
Minutes were read and
approved. Also a thank you note
from Mrs. Chester Sturdy.
Monthly letter •from Ywang
Yung was read by Mrs. Frank
Schmidt.
• Cancer Society report was
given by Mrs. Gerry Ginn.
Moved by Mrs. Sam McNall,
seconded by Nina Walters,that
we- sponsor someone in the
'Oxfam Walk.
May meeting will be at. the
6 home of Mrs. Will Snyder. Roll
call bring plants or bulbs for
auction:

This Wednesday our teacher
returned our Mexican booklets
which we started a couple of
"af weeks agp. On the whole we
thought they were done fairly
well with no one below 60 per
cent. This Friday we also get our,
report cards which we are not
expecially waiting for but we
will have to suffer the
• consequences.

We are glad to say we have
two new girls in our room, Pat
and • Cathy Campbell. We now
have 22 girktand nine boys — a
class of 31. • •
We are also happily' planning
an assembly at the end of April.
All the childten will be taking
part.

Mrs: Ward qhickluna of
Lindsay spent a few day S with
Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Gaunt. Mr.
and Mrs, Earl Gauht of
Londesboro also visited there on
Thursday. Neighbors called on
Mr. and Mrs., Gaunt on Monday
afternoon and evening on the
occasion of' their fortieth
wedding anniversary.
Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Gammie
and Gary and Dale Gammieleft
on Monday last for the summer
months in the yukon.
The St. Helen's WI enjoyed
their Institute-. Banquet at
Carlow on Thursday evening
with the Tiger Dunlop WI
catering. Mrs. Fordyce Clarke,
was guest speaker.
Mr. and Mrs. Simon DeBoer
arrived home on Tuesday after
spending a month in Holland.

visiting with her daughter, Mrs.
George Leadbetter, in Toronto.
Mrs. Violet Drennan is home
after two weeks, in UoSlerich
Hospital.
Miss Jean -Drennan of London
was home for the weekend.
Church School opened on
Sunday in Ashfield Presbyterian
Church with Mr. Gordon Robb
as superintendent and an
attendance of 82.
. A -number of the members of
the WMS attended the Synodical
in Goderich.

sister, Mrs. Earl Howes.

• The April meeting of the
Donnybrook U.C.W. was held
Tuesday afternoon at the hortie
of Mrs. Wm. Hardy with,a good
attendance.
Mrs. Murray Wilson hacL
charge and, after opening the
meeting led in praydr. Mrs.
Charles Jefferson read the
, meditation which had been
prepared by Mrs. Wilson.. Mrs.
Tom Armstrong read the
scripture and led in prayer. Mrs.
John Heldebrand took charge of -
the business artd, read a poem
"Easter Miracle." c,
Mrs. Stuart Chimney gave the
minutes of the previous meeting,
also the financial report and had ,
roll call.
Janice Robinson received the
offering. Mrs. Wilson gave the
topic which was on China and
made it very' interestinglisking—
questions and having a
discussion on them. -
After singing Creation's Lord,
- we give Thee thanks)the meeting
closed with all repeating the
benediction in unison.
—A ,Chinese lunch was served
• by the hostess assisted by the
leaders of the meeting.
The Grade„Two'S 'had' their •
assembly on March 14, in the
auditorium at 2 p.m.

Church League holds bowling banquet
The annual Bowling Banquet
of the Church League, was held
at (be Victoria Street .Unit6d
Church, on Tuesday April 8.
The evening began with the
Rev. Mr. Malnes saying grace,
after which a turkey dinner was
served by the Victoria Street
ladies. Kay Glen, thanked the
Ladies for the "excellent meal.'
Janice Glen, thanked Harry
Little, for his co-operation, and
assistance to the league for the
1968-69 bowling season.
Marj. Moore, the president,
called upon Harry Little to
present the Individual Awards
to: Ladies high, average, Marj.
Moore with; a PDAveine; Iaies
high triple, GOle Masse wit
745 triple; ladies high single,
Isabel Riehl with a 288 single;
men's high average, George
Robinson with a 216 average;
men's high triple, Verne Smith

to present the winning team of
the schedule, "North Street,"
