V The Hamilton .team lost out in the AA series finals �but,put up a
. good battle. They defeated Toronto 4-2 on Friday in the
semi-final game of the series.

Lindsay was the runner up in the A series -championships having
defeated Owen Sound, St Thomas and Woodstock: The final
score was 5-4 for St. Lambert, Quebec. _.
Runners ups -in -the 8 series'was-Strathroy. Thy earned a shot at,.
'The title-by"defeatifig Walkerton ealrlier' on "Saturdaiy in a goalless
game that was decided by shots on goal. Strathroy hit 20 for the
net with Walkerton shooting only 11 times. - '•
MRS. ALFRE ► WARNER
Mrs. Alfred 'Warner, RR 1,
Bayfield, died at her home
Monday March 17, after a -brief
illness,
Mrs. Warner was the former
Laura Aldworth. She was born
in Bayfield, a daughter of Lewis
Aldworth and the former
Elizabeth McDonald, and was a
life resident of the village.
She became the wife of
Alfred Warner, also of Bayfield,
on November 5, 1924.
iltilxs. Warner was a member of
the Bayfield United Church.
Surviving, with her husband,
are two sons, Harold,
Conestogo; and Donald,
Bayfield; two sisters, Mrs. John
(Mary) Dempsey, RR 3,
Clinton, and Mrs. Leslie (Pearl)
Beirnes, Wingham; and seven
grandchildren'. .
The funeral service was held
at Lodge Funeral • Home at 2
p.m. on Wednesday March- 19,
with, Rev. W. J. Maines . and
Capt.. Ken, Holbrook officiating.
Interment` was in the
Bayfield Cemetery. Pallbearers
were Harold Aldworth, Lloyd
Sowerby, Lewis Dempsey, John
Wayne, Charles Wallace, and
George Clark.
Flowerbearers were Robert
McIlwain, Jan Koene, Donald
McKenzie and Jonathon Fisher.
MISS RETTA CLARK
Miss Retta Eleanor Clark,
formerly of Goderich, died
Wednesday March 12 at St.
Petersburg, Florida. She was 76.
Miss Clark was born in
Goderich April 16, 1892, and
attended public and secondary
schools in Goderich., Four years
were spent in Toronto General
Hospital training to become a
nurse. She returned to Goderich
in 1922 to become the first
Huron County Health Nurse.
Miss Clark has been living, for
the past 12 years in St.
Petersburg.
Surviving are first cousins
Frank Clark, Goderich; William
..,Clark, Fordyce .Clark and. Tait -
Clark, Colborne township; Mrs,
Bessie Young, Goderich, and
Mrs. Delvin M.‘ (Ace) Hup<,
Louisville, Kentucky.
Funeral and crematorium
services were held March 14 at
St. Petersbyrg.'rFhe ashes will be
returned to Goderich for
interment in the, Maitland
Cemetery.
MRS. NEIL R. MACKAY
Mrs. Neil R. (Elsie) MacKay,
116 Quebec Street, Goderich,
died at Alexandra Marine and
General Hospital Monday,
March 17 after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. MacKay was_. born at
'Dungannon, adaughter of
George William Bradford and
former Harriett Elizabeth Riley.
Slie moved to Goderich as a
young girl' and attended schools
in Goderich.
• Mrs. MacKay was a member
of Knox Presbyterian Church.
She was an active member of
theW.M.S. of Knox Church for
many years, and for 18 years
was Leader of the Mission Band
at North Street United Church.
She .was predeceased by her
parents and by her husband.
Surviving are two brothers,
Dr. R. A. Bradford, Toronto,
and Bert Bradford Goderich; one •
sister, Miss Kathleen Bradford,
Goderich.
The funeral service was held.
at Stiles Funeral Home at 2.30
p.m. on Thursday 'March 20
with Rev. G. L. Royal
officiating.
Interment was in Maitland
Cemetery. Pallbearers were
George Bradford, Donald
Cameron, Norris Bradford, .jack
Cook, John Schaefer, and Dr.
W. N. Watters.
