Round andAbout
I am always interested in.
your hobby. You know that for
many years I have tried to
encourage you to do bigger and
better things with whatever craft
or hobby interests you.
I have seen many wonderful
collections, pieces of work that
has taken hours and h rs of
concentration and other A ngs "
showing how some people •
worldng at their hobby.
There is a lady in town who,
without any special patterns and
instructions, has designed and
made her own rag rugs, all of
them very nice and all showing
the hours of pleasure she has
spent with them.
Recently our well known
"C.P.X." man -told me about the
collection of SWANS his young
daughter has been working on,
She has been fascinated by the
line and form of these graceful
birds and since she sees so much
beauty in the tiny replicas she
bast collected, she has made
many around her interested,
also, in picking up these lovely
bits of glass or china. You can
see by the photo that she has a
wonderful start for a hobby, of
two years., Good going, Debbie, I
know your many friends in their
travels.jwill help you by bringing
back 4 different swan for you.
I have a nice little "Thank
You." note from Mary Howell.
She knows she has a, host of
friends 'in Goderich, but when
you are flat on your back in
hospital it is nice to know how
many will take the time to say
"I'm thinking of you." She says
"Thank you ALL for your good
wislut, I don't know if I'll get
notes written to all of you, but
in the meantime, please accept
this "blanket" thank you (You
should have said "Sheet" instead
of blanket, Mary). Here is a
progremreport.: Stitches are out,
dressings are off (and the "hem

Wih Murtha
stitching" is lovely!) and I am up
every day. On Monday I start
learning to walk again. I am
booked to be moved to St,
John's Convalescent Hospital as
soon as there is a bed available.
I have a ' bouquet. of
snowdrops from my own garden,
but I will probably miss the
early flowers. Howeyer YOU are -
invited 'to drop by to enjoy
them. After I am home the
coffee pot will be on; as usual,
though you may have to pour
yOur ovvn. •
Thank you all for, your
wonderful support....Mary."
Now wasn't that nice? Mary
certainly has one of the most,
beautiful of the ',early spring
gardens another hobby. The
earliest and most colorful
flowers are sure to be in her
garden. Another hobby is her
collection of tiny things. She has
the most fascinating collection
of miniatures to be seen in this
district. She • also collects
Debbie Jeffrey, daughter of Mr. and Virs. Ed Jeffrey, 51 Blake
Swan Song . Street, with her collection of swans.

Monday night the Crafts
Group- a Carlow had a very
successful Variety night and
• everyone agreed there should be
more of these "fun nights." If
you hadn't had 'a. good laugh for.
a long time they certainly shook
one out of you and people are
still giggling about the great local
athletes swimming the mighty
rapids at Benrniller!
Russ Kemighan was the lucky
winner of the painting donated
by Mrs. Don Aherhatt. I'm sure
it bore the name "Florence
Paterson" a nice ending to a -
wonderful evening.
Congratulations to the hard
working group at Carlow. It just
shows what you can do if you
just get some enthusiasm behind
you.
The girls of our Beta Sigma
Phi Sorority want to thank the
great number of ladies who
attended their Bake' Sale, last
Saturday. They heartily thank
Wilf Denomme for his generosity
in clearing part of his Flower
Shop for them and made it
possible for the success of their
project.
The ladies of the Rebecca.
Lodge also had a very successful
"project" last Wednesday, with
their card party and yummy
desserts. They had 34 tables,
which is a big turn out and the
Bake Table too was sold out.
They too say Thank you. So
those of you who missed it make
sure you are there next year.
Come the end of April. the
Legion Women's Auxiliary are
having a Bunny Bundle Draw.
Have you been to the arena
to watch . our future hockey
players in action? • They are
having excellent attendance to
very exciting games, make sure
you -get in on a few of them.
