The 'January meeting of .the

held in the Community
Memorial Hall with the
'i,president, Mrs. Frank Raithby,
in charge,

everyone and closed with a
poem; "ReCipe for the New
Year." The minutes Were ,
accepted Eit, read by the
secretary, Mrs. Bert Craig. She
also 'presented the financial
statement. Mrs. Taylor presented
fr: th'e statemen,t on the dishes for
the hall and it was 'decided to
• . order enough for 200 settings.
Mrs. Donald Haines reported
son. the cook books. and reported
that they are selling well. She
•thanked Mrs. Ed Davies fo• r
helping get them ready fdr, sate
• It was decided to again
. • sponsor the .4-H spring project,
"Meat in the Menu" and the
leaders chosen were Mrs. W.
Bradnock and Mrs. Donald
Haines.

A piano solo was played by
Miss Brenda East. A contest
"what a bride takes on her
honeymoon," was won. by Mrs.
Gordon Gross. Mrs. Plunkett
pinned a corsage, on Miss
Leatherlaricl and. Mrs. Harold
McClinchey pinned a corsage on
Miss Lorraine Chimney and
both were escorted to the
decorated chairs. •Gifts were

wedding, soon and Mrs. Donald
Haines was appointed kitchen
convenor and Mrs. W. Bradnock
will be convenor of the dining
room. A letter of thanks was
read from the Children's Aid

The iriembers will look after
the .iunh at the annual
Valentine's dance sponsored. by
the Hall Board on .February 14
with the • Bluetones supplying
the music. The president asked
all to bring in their Maple Leaf
• wrappers immediately so they
can be ',sent away. The card
report was given by Mrs. Andrew
. Kirkc'onnell and thank you' notes
.were read.
• The motto "A drop of ink r,
• makes . thousands think" was
given by Mrs. Ed DavieS. 'Roll
• call was answered by each
member _nailing different ways
•• -that wheat comes'to the table. A
name contest was conducted by,
Mrs. Bert Craig and the winner
• was Mrs. Lawrence Plaetzer. The
collection was taken by. Mrs.
•;. 'Ray From and Mls. Gordon
Chamney.

and Canadian industries, Mrs.
Arnold Craig, introduced'the
speakers of the afternoon, Mrs.

Board was held in the hall with

The Women's Institute
reported it is adding enough
dishes for 20,0 place settings.
The hall board is adding six
• more _tablis to seat 200 people.
The board made plans to have -
a -double door ' entrance for
winter use.
Information ' was to be
obtained regarding a chicken
_ barbecue for summertime, also a
rummage sale for the fall. The
annual Valentine dance to be
held February -14.
James McPhee, representative
of Colborne Township was
welcomed to the board replacing
Mrs. Evelyn Merrill, also Mrs.
Frank Raithby, representative of.
W.I. replacing Mrs.*Donald
Haines. Mr. W. Crig, was
tired fOr CO Ming year • as
manager, and caretaker antlers.

A donation • of a record
player, by the Teen -Town group
was much appreciated.
• Mr.and Mrs. Kenneth Seott
were honoured last- Saturday
evening by Township of West
lWawanosh officials and
ratepayers • in -the Auburn
Community Memorial Hall.
A diner was served by the
Donnybrook UCW to 25
officials and their wives at 7:30
p.m.
Mr. Scott was honoured on
' his retirement as township
assessor for the past 15. years.
Reeve Robert Lyons gave the
address and township councillors
made the presentation of a green
"lazy boy" chair to Mr. Scott. A
purse of money was presented to
Mrs. ,,Scott. Mr. Scott thanked
the township for its co-operation
and gifts. Music was supplied by
Tiffen's Orchestra.
