The Goderich Signal-Star, 1969-01-23, Page 3n•1'..• as„:b MESSAG. FROM THE WORD CAPTAIN RALPH,HEWLETT. • ° The candor of the 43ible is one • reason why 1 believe' in it.. ,[t reveals the sins , as well as. the poirr1,s " o f the people -of God. For one e,arnple look at King Havid — While the Bible' speaks very highly of his devotion to God, it does not • ignore the period of his life when he committed adultery and murder. The• Bible . does riot cd'mpliment ,man. In fact it describes man in very uncomplimentary • terms. For. example Isaiah 53:6 states, "Ail we like sheep have gone astray." A sheep has n6 sen of direction whatever. The casies"t thing in the..world is:for a sheep to get: lost and end up in difficulties. These are not very flattering terms about man.. but they are all too true.. So many people do not know where or to Miss MARGARET ATKINSON Miss Margaret, Louise Atkinson', B. Sc. Mrs. Tabb was born Caroline Monisfi • in. Colborne Township on November 4;1875, a daughter of Nicholas Morrish and£ the former Mary Jewell. She married John R. Tabb on March 6, 1907 i and lived in whom to turd to today. 'They are so completely baffled about so many things, The power of evil in -t;ice "'"world"acrd_ in themselves scares them. It is one thing to diagnosis the diseases 'arid-ranother' -thing to offer a renie,dy. The Bible dock both. Isaiah 53:6, goes- on "and .. the "Lord hath, laid on Him the'" iniquity of _us all." .This is a reference, to the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus on- • the 'Cross of Calvary. Because Jesus died as a sacrifice for sins we can experience forgiveness of sins and freedom from the power of sin. I must confess, that I haven't always appreciated the candor of ' God's Word. It was all right with Colborne Township- until 1937 • when they, moved to Goderich.
