While the • members and the guests -were. assembling, Mrs. William J. Craig played several Christmas hymns. Mrs. Oliver Anderson took charge of the meetingwhich was opened by singing --..“The First Noel''. She welcomed all to the meeting and the minutes were accepted as read by the secre. tart, Mrs. ,Alberl.McFarla.ne. - She also gave the financial state. ment that was prepared by the treasurer, Mrs. Norman Mc. Reports of the various com. mittees were given by their conveners: flower -fund, 'Mrs. Torrance Tabb; corresponding secretary, Miss Margaret R. Jackson; kitchen and manse, Mrs. Robert Turner; supply, Mrs, William Empey; flower fund; Mrs. James Jackson; visiting committee, Mrs. Elliott Lapp; Board oiStewards, Mrs. Arthur Grange; repOrts of the units were given by their leaders. A short memorial service was held in memory of the late Mrs. Russel King. ' Mrs. Arthur Grange was honoured when she •was pre. sented with an U„C.W, membership and pin. Davies with a good attendance. Mrs. Thomas Haggitt has charge of the Meeting and opened it with carol singing. Two of the carols were Mrs. Iaggitt's and Mrs.DonaldCart., wright's birthday hymns. -Mrs. • John Daer read the Christmas story for the scrip; hire lesson, and Mrs. George Schneider led in prayers.. The roll call was answered by each naming their favorite carol. The travelling apron re. ceived a penny for each letter in Christmas Pay. It was decided to send boxes of treats to shut-ins and the ladies were remindedofChrist• mas communion to be held on December 24 in St. Mark's Church at 10 a.m. . Letters of thanks were read and donations were received. Mrs. Gordon R. Taylor accom. panied for the carols on her accordian. A successful auctionwas held and the hostess, assisted by Mrs. Thomas Haggitt, Mrs. Gordon R. TaylOr and Mrs. Robert J. Gifts For Shut-ins The Christmas meetingotthe Women's Missionary Society of Knox Presbyterian Church was held last Thursday at the home of Miss Frances Houston with a good attendance. The president, Mrs. Wilfred Sanderson was in charge and opened the meetingwiththeCall to Worship followed by prayer, The hymn, "Come Let Us Sing of a 'Wonderful Love" with Mrs. Donald Haines 'at the piano. The minutes were accepted as read by the secretary, Mrs. Alvin_ Leatherland and Mrs. Donald Haines,, the treasurer gave the financial, statement. All reports were accepted as given. The devotional period was in ,charge of Mrs. John Hallam who based her medi. tation on the Christmas story as told by St. Luke and closed with prayer. The roll call was answered by a Bible verse beginning with "L", the last lettr in Cen. tennial which has en taken during the past y.....r as roll calls. The guest speaker of the 'afternoon was Rev. R.U. Mac. Lean. He gave the Christmas message, basing it on Advent; A piano solo "Star of the East" -was played by .Mrs. Robert J. Phillips.
