AFFEcTIQ pest Ann Landers; I felt sorry "tor the couple who wrote that thor children were grown, the house was paid for and they had no worries but life seemed empty. They were mach happier when they were scrtmpss ing and struggling to play bills. May I suggest something that wiU surely lift their spirits and make others happy, too? I know, it will work because it has done wonders for my husbaudand me. Call the local orphanage and ask if you can take a ctild or two on Sunday. Youngsters who live . in an institution,' simply adore Having dinner in a family home, with flowers on the table aid the conversation centered around them. After dinner they cans -take Ina movie, play games, or motor to the country. P11 never forget one little girl who clung to my apron while I made dinner. She" never left my side. I learned later that her own mother had deserted her when she was four and she wanted so much to- have a Mom. my. There are thousands of children who are starved for love and affection. And there nae at least as many peopljt who are bored and restless a in need of something to give their lives meaning and fulfill. meat. Please get them together. —MRS. RITA C. Dear Mrs. C.: Thank you for an excellent suggestion. How many of you out there had forgotten, there- were still orphanages? True, some orphanages havebeen closed but many still exist. If there is no orphanage in your, city, call a welfare agency. Every community - has neglected children, who hunger for attentibn. Dear Ann Landers: Give me your opinion of a 41.year.old man (supposedly sane) who turns off • the .ignition of the car while his wife is, driving 'on .a busy highway because 'he gets mad at her for losing her way• The man is unable to drive because of a physical disability. His wife was taking him to the Veterans' Hospital for a checkup. Neither of the were familiar with the freeway and when she missed the exit and wound up on the wrong road he said, "I'll fix you, you idiot," and turned off the ignition. Fors, tunately she wa f able to turn it on again beore they hadan accident. " The man is. my • husband and I would like your 'opinion of him. — STILL SHAKING Dear Still: My opinion is that he is a nut. And- a dangerous one at that. Anyone who has such a violent temper is a threat to society. I suggest pro. fessional help. He needs to ventilate his anger in socially .acceptable ways before he ends up killing himself and perhaps a few others. R * * *- Confidential to Sick ,of. His Gutlessness: He is not "gutless." He is in- experienced and inept. Try to be understanding and patient — and color him green, not yellow. W. J. Denomme FLOWER SHOP o. Phone 524 $132 DAY OR NIGHT Ae.nt for 24 -hr.
