Cancer Society Hold Annual Meeting Goderich and District Can. cer Society held' their annual meeting in the Town Hall Wednesday night, October 18. During Wednesday night's session, reports from' various • Cancer Society officials were heard and 'a new slate of of- , facers was installed. The Cancer Society members -were told of the success of the "Smoky Sam" anti-smoking campaign exhi- bit; 'arrangements were dis- cussed to bring the exhibit to Goderich. The 'Service to Patients' report disclosed that ,ten pa,• tients in the Goderich district had received help under the auspices of the local cancer organization. This service in. eluded ten trips , to London, two trips to Wingham plus drugs to one patient and dres. sings' to another. Presbyterian Church was celebrated in the church hall on Friday'evening. There was a attendance of the girls and boys, and a very, good attendance of mothers, grandmothers and members of the WMS. There was a table with plc. tures of the early days of the Mission Band, and the workers who laid such a good faun. dation for this 81st year. Another table had handiwork done by the children, and an. other showed books done by the boys and girls about what they had learned. Mrs. Lucy Watson is the Leader and has some . fine helpers; this in- cludes Mrs. A. Enright, Miss Flora Macdonald and Miss L. MacArthur. The wark 'shown was a credit to all concerned. The children sang several numbers and Diane Ryan read a story of the first Mission Band which was organized in - Austria. Miss Ida White told inter.
