Major Youngblut, ru. ral 'mailman for Auburn R.R. 3. Here is the poem which ex. plains itself. Your mailman is a popular gent, To all along his route; He rises early every morn, And gets their mail all sort- ed out. He starts out every morn. ing With a smile upon his face He's ' • proud to have the privilege • , To serve thehuman race But when some careless housewife - Leaves a' loose coin in their box It irritates his feelings Right down into his socks. He reaches in • to 'get the coin • And it slips from his grasp He spends the next ten min- utes • Searching for it in the grass He seldom ever finds S o he's out another dime; So why not buy a book • of stamps' When he 'comes along next time. I'm sure .that he is grate- ful When they appreciate That regardless of the weather -- ' The mail Is delivered at their gate: Family Celebrates Anniversary AUBURN - Mr. and Mrs. Guy Cunningham were honored last Wednesday, September 20 at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Lloyd M';Clinchey, Mr. McClinchey, Karen and Paul. How To Control o - Tree • Stumps Here are some suggestions from horticulturists with the Ontario Department of Agricul. ture and Fodd, for getting rid of those unsightly tree stumps. Treat the stump with a her. bicide. Stump treatment is par. ticularly useful in preventing the -vigorous regrowth that is the characteristic .response of many species after 'cutting. Moreover, killing the stump is the first step toward encour. aging it to rot. All the below stump treatment must be ap. plied to' freshly exposed wood, and may be applied at any ,sea. son of the year. The best time is right after the tree is cut. If you are treating an old stump, here's how to go about it. With a wedge or drill, put holes into the stump to expose fresh' wood for the chemical to work on. If there is any re. ,growth, treat it , as well as the stump proper. Any of the following chem. `icals will work on most' spe. dies: 2, 4-D Ester or 2)4-6 T/2, 4-10 mixture , 3 ounces acid in One gallon fuel oil. Splay or paint on. Ammate X, 2 1/4 pounds in one gallon water or one ounce (dry) per inch' of stump diameter. Spray paint, or dry application. Sod. Juni ohiorate mixtures, 1 1/2 ounce tier inch of stump dia. meter, dry application. If you spray, treat all sur. faces of the stump. HURONVIEW Gordon R. Taylor played an accordian solo and, Sang two solos. Mrs. Robert J. Phil? lips played "How Great Thou Art" and all joined in the singe ing.
