follows:
"Mr. Chairman, honored
guests, ladies and gentlemen,
-fellow graduates: To some this
is just another day but to the
graduates of 1967 it is the mom.,
ent when we have reached our
goal. One by one we have
climbed the steps of our train.
ing, on some we faltered, but
struggled on. However, with a
formula of determination and
hard work that last step was
attained. Looking back I am
sure everyone will 'agree that
it was not so difficult- after. all.
"During this period we•have
learned ari appreciation of our
heritage, a deeper-instelni
the world, and a greater ability
to .think. Although the road may
have been difficult the values
received were immeasurable.
'For many years the duty of
the psychiatric aide and atten.
dant was purely custodial, but
with the developemznt of psy-
chiatric nursing we have,
be.
come more than custodians. To.
day, we play an important part
in the treatment of the men.
tally ill. Through close con.
tact on an hourly and daily basis,
the aide and attendant can form
a therapeutic relationship with ,
the patient, thus Helping him al.

come a long way during these
last one, hundred years, and'
it Will go' even farther in the
