"arrives at the, stoplight intersection of Highways 21-, and 8 at Elgin avenue in God. erich. The oltl pavement' is being torn up and removed, to allow for construction' of right. turf, .lanes and pedestrian safety islands at this busy intersection. The new traffic artery at this intersection is a co-operative project of the Ortta trio government's department of highways and Goderich 'town council, costs of - which ' are being, financed on an 80-20 basis, respectively. Property acquisition and utility relocations are causing delays which have put the scheduled completion 'date of the project ahead to the middle of July.., Prbfit from crop production starts with the seed and this . will be demonstrated to some 500 farmers who are expected to attend the Western Ontario Agricultural school's soil and crop days, t0 be held July 12, 13 and 14 at,Ridgetown. ' "Corn, varieties are changing all the time." points out A. D. McLaren, head of the W.O,A-S, Crops Divisiop, "and it pays to keep up with the latest dev. elopments in variety selection." Good seed selection can give a corn grower an extra $10.00 or more in profits per acre. Crop variety comparisons, row width and plant populations are among some of the important tests to be shown during soil and 'c rop; days. The plot tours will' also cover- the test. work being done with chemical weed and insect control and soil fen• tility programs. Brown, head of the bio. logy division., will, talk on the chemical weed and insect con= trol programs being tried at the school. Dr. C. 8: Baldwin, head of the soil division, has many tests on profitable fertilizer programs.. Fall , fertilization, continuous coin and high fertility programs have all ,been trieg at W-O.A.S. The latest ' field tests will be shown- on the tour. The' program will start at 1:30 D.S.T. and trabtor trains will leave then livestock pavilion at regular intervals from 1:30 to 4:30 each day: ' PAM JOSEBEDARD The 'funeral of Paul' Joseph Bedard,. • whose death occurred. at.
