Aceordikg to Mr. Adams the " - di edging operation was.`a e tick• lish business": The hugh crane dug in areas of the swamp where a main could have sunk out of ,sight, by means of a thick wooden,. platform on which it -rested. The •platirorm consistea ot'fhree sections, each measuring 20ft x 6!t x aft. As the crane advanced, the operator kept moving one sec- tion ,ahead of the two on which the machine sat. Truly, it wasn't a jot for a greenhorn! • Eventually, John plans to stock the ponds with trout, mostly rani. bow and speckled varieties. If it can be arranged, he'll establish a hatchery on the premises also, to assure a continuous source of fresh stock and a .selection of sizes: The swamp is located at the bottom of a natural land basin And 'the continual flow of spring water should provide ideal con- ditions for trout to flourish. vation In the past •few years,, this marsh .land has been a favorite spot for hunters each fall during the open season on waterfowl. Ducks in particular frequent this area, which provides -them 'with -excellent feeding and nest. trig grounds. In future though, hunting will be prohibited here andducks and geese and other wild' life, which inhabit this• swamp ,n will be protected.
