This year's well attended GMHA' 01,0e saw -the- -addition --of three new _trophies ,to -the already] fin, pressive number being presented, to coaches and players of this local sports association, 'Fwo ox them will be presented, to_the two individuals who have 'contributed the 'most to the welfare and promotion of manor •league hocle y and the third will go to any indiVidual living or deceased who, in the op'ilion of a panel ' of .judges, has made an outstanding donation in either .time or money or both, tb any organized sports activity in and around Goderich. Arrangements, have been made` by Constable Tom Fortner of the 'Goderich Police force,donor of the three trophies, that these. awards will be perpetuated .thratigh=b-' outhis lifetime and beyond, meeting and a new slate of filters w eta the (M� h��thei�r' Ammar Prioi 'tp the' 'awards ni ht -ba u as installed for another season. By . electing 'their new executive several months ahead of the next minor hockeyj'season,-the members give their new executives ample, opportunity to become familiar with their duties. Tnis practice must greatly assist the GMHA to discharge their management functions with a minimum of problems. An apology is made here to the executive of the Goderich Figure Skating Club and its intim) ens for notbeing on hand to cover thg pre-, sentation ceremonies held about three weeks ago in the, Goderich Memorial Arena which conciuded'an active and successful season for that group. Trophies, donated by several Goderich companies,were present- ed to members within the club who had demolstrated an increased degree ,of proficiency in` figure skating within their. respective age groups throughout the past year. Names of the award -winners will be given in another section of the Signal -Star. Turning our attention to the golfing season just ahead (in progress for 'several enthusiastic juniors) we note that Maitland Country Club has engaged a new pro, Neil Verwey, who begins at the local course on April . 15th.
