By . electing 'their new executive several months ahead of the next
minor hockeyj'season,-the members give their new executives ample,
opportunity to become familiar with their duties. Tnis practice
must greatly assist the GMHA to discharge their management
functions with a minimum of problems.
An apology is made here to the executive of the Goderich Figure
Skating Club and its intim) ens for notbeing on hand to cover thg pre-,
sentation ceremonies held about three weeks ago in the, Goderich
Memorial Arena which conciuded'an active and successful season
for that group.
Trophies, donated by several Goderich companies, were present-
ed to members within the club who had demolstrated an increased
degree ,of proficiency in` figure skating within their. respective age
groups throughout the past year. Names of the award -winners will
be given in another section of the Signal -Star.
Turning our attention to the golfing season just ahead (in progress
for 'several enthusiastic juniors) we note that Maitland Country
Club has engaged a new pro, Neil Verwey, who begins at the local
course on April . 15th. Neil spent 3 years as assistant pro at London
Hunti"Club, 2 years at Thames Valley and' one year at Highland, all
in the London vicinity, It's evident that pro Verwey has'colleeted
several years' experience as a, golf pro and with this in mind, it's
reasonable to • expect that he should get a number signing up for golf
