This team has won two OMHA peewee titles before but never in the same year as it has won the champ- ionship at the YoungCanadaWeek tournament. Jack Cowan, coach of the Belmont peewees, has his team in the OMHA seml-finals again, and stated that he would be most. happy to add the 1967 OMHA title to the championship he won here Saturday. Thornhill, (entered in the "C" series, 1,000- td 2,999) won its third straight championship in this group by beating Lambeth 5-2 in the title game. Thorn. hill had team defeated the Port Perry. 5-1 in the semi- finals. In the "B" series, (3,000 to 7,499) Ingersoll came out vic. torious; winning over St. Marys 4.2 in the final to claim the title. A classy group of pewees from Leamington eked out a slim. via tory over Renfrew by beating' them 2.1 to take the "A" ser- ies crown. Teams playingin"A" class come 'from centers witn populations from 7,500 to 34,499. HARD LUCK TEAM Winnipeg, the (hard -luck team' of AA series competition•(35,000 and over) couldn't overcome the jinx which has plagued it during the 12 years that the Manitoba team .has played at Young Can- ada week. Proceeds from' the peewee hockey tournament, which go towards financing Lions Club charitable :work, may not be as high as was -anticipated owing to the 20 percent increase in attendance 'at the Centennial tourney. Food expenses will be higher also because of the larger °number of teams and referees in this year's event, said Bruce Holmes.
