Kelland, Dakota, formerly of this place
that dnriag the recent blizzard he was
unfortunate enough -to loose over two
'hundred sheep. Since his return he
has gone into Sheep raising; extensive-
ly and the loss u'tow sustained will he
keenly felt by the young luau.
Word was receivecLfrom Mr. hobert
Hughes, wife and family, a few days
ago, stating that they bad arrived at
their destination, St• Louis, all in ap
parently good health, exceptMrs. Rug
hes, who was ailing at the time of her
departure, being somewhat fatigued
with the journey, They have been
successful in getting a suitable resi-
dence and aro now comfortably settled
in their new home.
Death took from our midst on March
12th inst., Ellen Eliza Gillan Hill, be-
loyed wife of James Darling, aged 68
years and 9 months, her illness being
of short duration. The remains were
interred in the Exeter cemetery on
Monday the 14th inst., by the Rev. W.
Martin, pastor of Caven Presbyterian
.church, of which she also was a mem-
ber. Being of such a kind and gener-
ens disposition she was respected and
.esteemed by all who knew her, and the
memory of an affectionate parent and
worthy friend.
The only variation in quality which
will ever be found in "Myrtle Navy"
t>ebacco is in the degrees of moisture
which it contains. Tobacco is a very
ready absorbent of moisture, and in
unusual stateslof the weather it may
become a little too moist cr a little too
dry to suit the taste of some. This is a
minor 'natter, however, as the essential
quality of the tobacco is not changed.
Its :iombustion is a little slower or a
little faster according to the degree of
moisture, that is all. The darker the
plug the greater the moisture, and
many prefer the dark. In each caddy.
however, the preference for either can
be met
The Council met by order of the
reeve at the Town Hall, Exeter, 12th
March, 1892. All present. The min-
utes of previous meeting read and con-
firmed. The reeve stated the object of
calling the meeting, namely, to deal
with a notice served on him threatn-
ing proceedings to have any By -Law
or resolution affecting the removal of
the market quashed for illegality.
Moved by T. 13. Carling seconded by E.
Christie that the notice be fyled.—Car-
ried. Moved by E. Christie seconded`
by T. B. Carling that Mr. Treble be in-
structed to proceed with the removal of
the Market building. at once.—Carried.
The council adjourned until Wednes-

FALCUNnRIDGE, i,—Judgment in inter-
pleader issue tried at Goderich Assizes.
There were two lots of goods seized,
one on the and and the other on the
13th August, 1891., under an execution
of the defendant against A. Q. Bobier.
The plaintiff claimed the goods under
a chattel mortgage from Bobier dated
20th July, 1891, and two warehouse
receipts bearing date the 29th of July
and llth August respectively. The
learned judge upholds the chattel
mortgage, bus not the warehouse re-
ceipts. Judgment for the plaintiff' as.
to such of the goods seized on the 3rd
August as are mentioned in the chat-
tel mortgage, and for the defendant as
to such as are not so mentioned, and
as to all the goods seized on the 13th

er by the mortgage or the warehouse

the Main Street Methodist choir assem-
bled at the residence of Mfr. H. Huston,
the object being to entertain Mr. P7. E.
Gundy to an oyster supperand to pre-
sent him with a handsome Bible as an
appreciation of his valuable services

the supervision of L. 0. L. No. 024, of
which he was a member. A large num-

sorrow and sympathy for the bereaved
widow and family in their hours of
sorrow. His life was insured in the
aboye order for $1,000, which will be of
great service to those remaining 'be-

livered in Cavell Presbyterian ehureh
on Sunday last by the Rev. R. J. Beat-
tie, of Guelph, to large gatherings at
both services, although the weather
was sotnewhat disagreeable during
the evening. The discourses were in-
teresting anal instructive both to young
and old Collections amounted to $90.
