Gold Coast Regiment, caused quite a stir when he re. `turned from West Africa, in1902, to his home town. Goderich had already. we.. ,.. lcomed home Austin, Chisholm wno served in the Solth African `, a` , War in the. Royal Canadian Re. giment and now, aged 93, re. sides at Lucan,- Capt. Gundry, also 93 . died Dec. 29 in Regina,- as already, .briefly noted in The Signal Star. 'Re was undoubtedly -the only God. erich °resident to serve in the Gold Coast, Which before his death became Gambia,, an indep. endent nation within the British Commonwealth. Will Gundry was a brother of Thomas Gundry, for many- years a noted auctioneer. The brothers were associated in operation of a large livery business on South Street, located in. the building pow occupied by Goderich Motors. Will- was a county _eon. stable, and an officer of ther33rd Huron Regiment. As result of a kick from a horse, he wore an artificial ° leg. He married in Goderich, in 1904,.Agnes Edith Washington, who died in 1947. They moved to Regina in. 1911 and Mr. Gundry as a land appy aiser was an active partipipant :in the growing years of Sok atchewan. The only surviving roe•. lative at the time of his death. was a sister, Mrs. W.G. Young,. the former Christena Gundry , who died in a Saskatoon nurRi;ng home on Feb. 6 at 99. It is believed that Mr. Gundry went to the West or(. the ,advice ° of G. F. 41air, who' in 1949•: 6 ' was a member Of the law firm of Proudtoot, HaysandBlair with offices on The Squame.
