Lloyd returned from New York on Oct, 16, generally pleased with, his "six principles', but he was immediately swept along by Eden and no more was heard of the 'principles'. The two left for Paris the same day for a further secret session with Mollet and Pineau, towhichJebb, tiAmbassador, a the Brih s wast o admitted, It seems probable that Mollet won Eden over on this occasion, for on the '1'lth, Ben Gurion declared in a speech that Israel was facing the grave danger of an attack from Egypt. By the 18th the French Supreme Commander of land forces re- ceived orders that the British would 'march', but that Muske- teer Revised A would be follow- ed. This revised plan had been made after the decision. to land at Port Said.Air Marshal Bar. nett believed that 48 hours bomb- ing of the enemy air force, follow- ed by 8 to 10 days of pamphlet drops and broadcasts, would allow the allied force to be put ashore at Port Said without fight.
