Park New Year Pally
By. 'Mrs. Walter Rathburn
The eve of the Centennial Year
of Confederation is almost here!
This is the one and only event -
of its kind in your life and I
hope it will be a wonderful year
for all of you.
At midnight of 1966.6'7 Your
Centennial Committee has arr-
anged a short but appropriate
ceremony to commemorate this
• great event. '
.There is as much activity 'and
excitement in getting the Centen-
nial. ' Birthday Cake ready, as
there is when Santa packs the
sleigh for nis big trip!
You would never believe the"
amount of work and the number
of hours Ahat is_being ppent On_

Sager and helper George, expert
plasterers, are putting on the
',icing''. Even Sifto Salt are help-
ing by giving us a warm' place
in which to ice the cake!
So you see it takes many will.
ing workers to complete a
project ,now, we need .you to
attend the official opening of
1967 and the lighting of the cake
in Courthouse Park.
Bring your friends !from your
parties for a few minutes to attend
the ceremony and receive the
blessing for a Wonderful year,
by the local clergy.
- -There will—be a- -"one hund.
red gun Salute", (so don't think
it is the candles popping one at
a time). -The Bells will 'ring,
Sirens and whistles will make
themselves heard.
I would like to have seen a
parade or a band or some revelry
around the square to start off
this special New Year.
How about the Bagpipes.
Where's Donaldbert? Some of the
curlers said they'd come in their
warm duds if there's a parade.
Come on -How about it?
I'd like to ask all the sub
committees to be sure to come
to the meeting Wed. Jan 4th
with their written reports. Ohr
work is not finished there is a
great deal ahead of us. .
