Goderich Siftos will' be out
for revenge this Friday 'night
when .they meet ... the Preston
Legionnaires at the Goderich
Memorial Arena. Last Saturday
the Siftos lost a game to Pres.
ton that they feel they should have
won.
After piling up an impressive
5.1 lead in, the first period, the
Siftos ran into a rash of penal•
ties that allowed the Legionnlaires
,to ,hack away . at their lead. At
the end of two periods the Siftgs
`still held 'a 5 -4 lead,' but Preston
roared ahead with three unan-
swered third period goals to take.
the gamefl-5,
The game •was a rugged one
with a total of 24 penalties being
handed out. Both teams seemed
to be equal partners in the rough
going, but the Siftos picked up
twice as many penalties as their
opposition, getting 16 of the 24.
Manager Harry Kerr, who
handled the Siftos in the absence
of coach Wayne Horner, who had
taken the GDCI curling team to
a bonspiel in Sarnia, expressed
dissatisfaction with the officiat.
ing.
"You could see ih the second
period that they (the referees)
were out, .to get us," said Kerr.
"It was the penalties, that did
it," he added.
The -absence of their' coach
and the effects of -a- game the
night before may also have been.
contributing factors in the loss,
but the Siftos' big aim now is
to show they can beat Preston
here this Friday.
The Siftos need some wins
badly. The loss left them only
three points out of second place,
but sixth place Guelph trails the
Siftos by only one point. It is
shaping up am a real race in
the league standings as the second
half of the schedule proceeds.
In the Siftos' other game last
week, they, were forced to settle
for a 4.4 draw_ with' the Guelph
Junior Regals here last Friday.
After going ahead 2.0 in the
first period on two goals by
Bill Wilkins, the Siftos saw the
Regals come back to tie it up
as Wooley and Austin scored for
the visitors. Nfurray Henderson
cored a last. second goal a t
19:59 to put the Siftos back in
front.
Brian Carroll made it 44 for
the locals in the second, but,,.
Guelph got one back before the
end of the period.
The third period was scoreless
until, with the Siftos shorthanded
and less -than ,four minutes reg,
maining, Ray Scapinello picked ,
up a loose puck in front of the The Booster Club has been sell.

to gain the tie for the Regals. p
In }the garno against Preston,
Brian Carroll scored two goals,
while Dennis Lassaline, Bill Wil•
kips and Cam Oolquhoun got one
apiece for the SiltOs,
An added feature of this
Friday home game will be a
draw for a portable T.V. set.
McKiIIop, Cleric
Rev. Meno Shatto, pastor of
Zion EUB Church, McKillop
Township, has written a play,
t7 no.
The play, he said, shows the
connection between the joy of
Gentiles at Christmas and the
joy of Jews at Chanukah, a fes.
•tival celebrated shortly before
Christmas...
It also points out, he said,
that the same spirit is contained
in both the New and Old Testa-
ments of the Bible.
The ecumenical spirit of the
' play, he said, is a trend of the
times.

half hour. The music, he said,
may be provided by records,
sung by a choir, or' even a Xolk
song group, "The play is very
fexible," he said.
This is the fifth play Mr.
Shatto has written. All have been
performed by church or "Church.
oriented" groups.
Uno is his third Christmas
play. He has also written two
Easter plays.
