stand by the policy laid down by our

Honorable J. J. 0, Abbott, who occupies
the position at the present time ,'tlxink-

cheers and iipplause he was made the
unanimous choice, Several speakers
then addressed the meeting tuid two
resolutions were passed deploring the
loss of our noble chieftain, Sir John
Macdonald. Mr, Pridham was then
called on and stepping forward to ad-

tremendous outburst of enthusiasm.
After thanking his moves and second-

of A:pi°il,
When a man begins s to tell a story
about fish he is at once labeled as a-
well, a story teller. This is not a fish'
story but a chicken story that comes
all the way from Michigan. A chicken
fancier was troubled exceedingly by
the propensity of his brood to scratch
up his garden, so he set to work to
solve the problem. of prevention. After
elaborate experiments he succeeded in
crossing a breed of long leg; cd brah
meas with short legged bantams is such
a' way that the chickens had one long
leg and one'short.one. When they at-
tempted to scratch they lost their 'bal-
ance and fell over, which after a few
trials was sufficient to show that
scratching was impossible and;; they
gave it up.
