Dr. Frank Mills_
Ladies and Gentlemen: -
1 want to thank all those who have in
any way at all helped me in this election
campaign. In particular, I want to thank Mr.
Jim Donnelly who nominated me for this
position and Mr. Alex Wilkins who second-
ed the nomination and who has helped
me ' in every way possible to reach this
successful conclusion. ,
•
I feel that my election is the direct
result of the desire of the electors in
Goderich to bring advancement to our Town
in every possible way. I accept my election
as a direct mandate from the people of
Goderich to institute the program which I
outlined in the newspaper before the elec-
tion.
1 cannot tell you how pleased 1 am to
have this active show of confidence from
my fellow townspeople. 1 know, and 1
believe they now kridw, that 1 have only
the sincerest desire to promote this Town—
my Town and your Town7-in every possible
way and 1 want to assure you again that I
will leave no stone unturned in my efforts
to do this job that you have asked me to
do. I am proud to be your mayor. I am
proud to be from Goderlch, the most
promising and progressive Town in Ontario.
This is a turning point in the history
of our Town. Let us not look back; let
us look only to the future and prove to
ourselves and to all others what we have all
known for so long—that we are living in a
Town with the most promising potential of
any Town in Ontario.
We must work together in harmony,
in unity of desire, and purpose to achieve
those goals which lie ahead of us.
I will be meeting with the new Coun-
cil before the first of the year to lay out
program to achieve all those things 1 have
promised to you so that we may implement
our program immediately after our inaug-
ural.
I am very pleased that you have seen
fit to elect Reeve Such, Deputy Reeve
Worsell and Councillors Sheardown, Er-
skine, Schaefer, Robinson, Hays, Howlett
and 1 feel that these men have the same
aims and desires as 1 have for the advance-
ment of our Town.
On behalf of myself, my wife and
my family, I wantto take this opportunity
to wish a Marry Christmas to all the people
of Goderich arid a Happy, Prosperous and
Progressive, New Year. Thank you.
Signed
Dr. Frank Mills
