Rev, and Mrs. M. R. Roberts and family were,
greeted by chilly temperatures, but a warm
greeting when they arrived in Auburn from
Eerie Horn-
Several dozen curious
residents.. were attracted to• the
harbor here last Thursday at 3
a.m. by the fog horn of a ship
arriving for a cargo of salt:
The horn of the E. B. Barger
could be heard for several hours
as it approached the port through
a pea .soup fog,
Many who heard the Jog horn
believed the E. B, Barber was
in distress, but the ship made
it into the, harbor without difficul-
ty.
Numerous persons said they
were awakened by „the,....ship's
horn and thought of the Daniel
J. •Morell which sank last week
off Harbor Beac h, ,Mich., almost
directly across Lake Huron from
Goderich.
The snuaci '* the -E ; a be s -
fog horn is said to be one of the
most unusual on the Great Lakes,
and this further mystified those
Who heard it.
