Reeve Donald MacKenzie stat. ed that the increase of 1 1/2 mills was due to an increase in wages and the share of the cost of ambulance service provided by Goderich, W Ingham and Kin. cardine hospitals. Work being done on, the Kintail sideroad, which' was returned to the township from the county, will be paid for by a special grant from the county and the department of highways. Reeve MacKenzie in. dicated this would be his last year. Deputy -reeve Gordon Boyd spoke of the MacDonald bridge completed in • 1966 at a cost of $81,000. The centennial building at the Township Park at the foot of the 12th concession cost $3,852 and a new well approximately $1,000. ' The project will be subsidized by both the federal andprovincial government and will cost the 'township one-third of The total. Road supertintendent Richard West gave a detailed account of money spent in his depatment. Widening was done on the hill on the Harris sideroad, Warren Zinn road and the Kintail side. road. Sam Gibson, chairman of the Huron Couhty School Area No. 2 gave a report on the progress of constructing the new 1/2 mill- ion dollar school on the 9th and said that progress has been rather slow with a, completion date now Set for Jan. 21, 1967. The board purchased two new school buses and believe they can operate them cheaper than hir- ing it done, du'e to the scattered .population. He said the surplus for the year has been increas- ed with a tax rate of nine mills and expressed the thought that they can build the new school and operate it for 11 mills. Mrs. Marian Zinn, the other nominee for the school position, said that she was very interest- ed in education but felt that a large part of the township did not have representation. on the new board. D.A. Hackett questioned where Zion pupils would be attending school next year and Secretary Howard Blake advised that they would likely. go to the new school but didn't know when the change would be. William Hunter, Ashfield re. presentative to the Lucknow Dis. trict High School Board, gave a report of the years wdrk and out. ?Ind steps taken 'in the amal. He express. ed the opinion that the board felt they had done the right thing in closing Lucknow High School and that he thought the most of the ratepayers felt the same way. Ralph Foster, Ashfield repre- sentative on the Goderich Dist. rict Collegiate Institute, report. ed a present enrolment of 65f with 124 attending vocational training at" Minton. He report- ed a staff of 32 teachers with a salary schedule of $5,300 to $12,600. A new addition to the school is being constructed at a cost of $1,400,000.
