Goderich Community Concert
Association presented Mildred
' Dining, the "First Lady of the
Harp," Wednesday evening at
8:30 P.M in the GDCI auditorium.
The lighting for, .the perfor-
mance was extremely effective.
One could see the harpist's hands
very clearly on the backdrop.
The program began with G. F'.
Handel's "Concerto in B flat,"
usually for organ and orchestra,
but arranged especially for the
haril. One of the arrangers was

brilliant technique in the almost

thought to have evolved from the
twanging of a bow string. She
also mentioned the slow develop-
ment of the harp.
The next work was "The March
of the Men of Harlech",. arrang-

Ingham Palace parties. Usually
sung by a male chorus or played
by a brass band, it was none the

In the more modern composi-

shown. I do honestly believe that
the harp is the best way to have
this music presented to the
general public.
The singing of "Silent Night"
with Miss Dilling's own arpeggio
accompaniment made the aud-

concert. The concert concluded
with an invitation from Miss
Dilling again to sing, "God Save
the Queen."
