ganization and direction of a
large number of 4-11 Agricultur-
al Clubs and five local area Jr.
Farmer clubs.
This .year, a total of 412 '441
agricultural club projects were
started by boys and girLs in Hu-
, ron County and 93.4 per cent
were brought to a successful con-

like to see close to the 100 per
cent mark. '-
Plans for, this years 441 pro-
gram were started in January at'
the 4-11 agricultural olub leaders
annual meeting. Again as in..
previous years, the photographs
from the 4-11 gate sign compet-
ition were judged. •This compet-
ition was even more popular this
year with' quite a rise in en--
tries. Also, new clubs were dis-
cussed such as the 441 Conserva-
tion Cluband new senior prd=
ject books were discussed 'for
members, 116.20 years of age.
Plans were also made for a bus
trip for the first part of July to
Rhe University of Guelph. Q.

EARL"( BANKER
While it is possible that a
merchant or a public scribe
foundckd the institution of bank-
ing, it is generally believed an
English jeweller pioneered this
vocation. Sir Francis Child, a
17th century goldsmith who lent
large sumps of money to the gov
erment, is'"credited with being
the first to 'convert this trade to
a banking enterprise. Ha is oft-
. en 'called the" "father of the
