This .year, a total of 412 '441 agricultural club projects were started by boys and girLs in Hu- , ron County and 93.4 per cent were brought to a successful con- clusion. Another year, we would like to see close to the 100 per cent mark. '- Plans for, this years 441 pro- gram were started in January at' the 4-11 agricultural olub leaders annual meeting. Again as in.. previous years, the photographs from the 4-11 gate sign compet- ition were judged. •This compet- ition was even more popular this year with' quite a rise in en-- tries. Also, new clubs were dis- cussed such as the 441 Conserva- tion Cluband new senior prd= ject books were discussed 'for members, 116.20 years of age. Plans were also made for a bus trip for the first part of July to Rhe University of Guelph. Prior to this, John was selected to represent Huron County at 411 Leadership Week held in Guelph; sixteen calves going. to the Queen's Guineas Cornpeti- tion. On May 28, 1966 there were 192 boys and girls taking part in the livestock judging competi- tion. The interest in this re- mains very high and shows that Huron County young people are interested in livestock. At the Western Fair -livestock judging competition, a ,total of 20 contestants attended frotn Huron County. At the Provincial ell Inter - Club Competitions, University of Guelph,, 24 teams represented Huron County 4-11, Clubs. This was a record number of com- petitors from Huron County. They werein competition with 239 teams from across the pr•o- vince. The standings of the Huron. teams were as follows: Dairy, 89 teams competing, Lucknow 4-11 Dairy:' x1111:' Bay- field 4-11 Dairy, 39th; Dungannon 4-11 Dairy, 50th; Blyth 4-H Dairy, 64141; Turnbenry 441 Dairy, 70th; Brussels 4-H Dairy, 74%; How ick 4H Dairy, 78th. - r - _37 .. teams—mut nimg, The Junior Farmers of Huron• Tractor, 10 teams competing, Huron Tractor, :1Oth. Members of this years inter - county livestock judging team were Jim Papple, George Town- send and Bob McNeil. - They were in coan+petition with, 14 oth- er teams from other Comities across the province on Nov. 10 at the Royal Winter Fair, Tor- onto. _The • Huron team placed 6th. T9 otter a challenge to all young people of Ramon County, several trips are awarded. These trips prove very educational and interesting for the Juniors. The total membership in hese 5 clubs is. 219 members. "We are very pleased to work •.vhh -the Junior Farmers .in the development of projects which provide valuable training for the m•onrbers. This year, the mem- bers have undertaken such pro- jects as, drama festivals, choir, field day, training school, curl: ing bonspiel; • hockey tourna- arents; and century farm signs.' The Junior Farmers of Huron County should be congratulated for the work they have done in erecting ,Century Farm Markers - on farms in the same family for 100 years.
