ear Ann Landeis:
Dear Ann Landers: That letter
from the wife who complained
about Piet Sports Nut husband
could' have been written by me
a year ago. Today I am writing a
different kind of letter.
§even months ago my Bill was
sent to Viet Nam. I've had plenty
of time tp sit around and think
about what is important in a
marridge. I know now .that many
things I made an issue of are not
worth talking about,
I recall the times I chewed Bill
out because, he sat glued to a
mailing
a leiter?

Dear Ann Landers: I Just read
the letter from the Pittsburgh
teen-ager who exchanged a few
'polite sentences with an elderly
man while waiting for an elevator.
He offered the girl $5 for just
being pleasant. L'd like to tell
you what I got for trying to be
pleasant to a teen-ager recently.
I was in a garage waiting for
my car when I heard two girls
talking. I judged them to be 15
or 16 years old. One girl said,
"My mother will kill me when
I get home. It's almost 5:30 and
I shouldhave been home an hour
ago,"
The other girl asked if she had
had to stay after school, and the
answer was, "Yes." The first
girl said she would have tele-
phoned her mother but she didn't
have a dime. 'Her friend replied
"I'd lend you a dime only I don't
have one either."
I stepped up to the girl in
trouble and said, "Here's a dime.
Call your mother."•:She gave me
a surprised look, took the dime
and tossed thin the gutter. How
do you like that? -An Old Coot

Dear Ann Landers; My grand,
father is stone deaf and his eye.
sight is failing. My boy friend
and I were practising some new
dance steps last night and grand.
pa came ip. He couldn't hear the
music and didn't realize wewere
dancing. He told my boy friend
to get out and stay out.
Grandpa then went to my moth-
er and told her a wild story.
My folks are unreasonable and

DEAR G.: Parents should un-
derstand that there's a whole
new world out there -since we
were teen-agers: Dancing isn't
what it used to'•be, but then what
is? If our parents survived the
black bottom and the charles-
ton and the shag, we can live
through the monkey and the jerk.
I wonder what sort of dances
your children will be doing!
