The guests were welcomed by Mrs. Thomas Lawlor and presented` with a small gift of 'a ball point pen. - Mrs. William.' J. ' Craig was at the piano. The minutes were read by trie secretary', Mrs. Lawlor. An invitation to attend the Blyth W.I. meeting on Oct. 6 was accepted. Mrs. Haines and Mrs. Lawlor were appointed lead- ers for the course, Hats For You. Mrs. Frank Itait.hby and Mrs. Fordyce -Clark were appointed delegates for -the county rally in Auburn Monday. Mrs. George Million and Mrs. William Straus shim are in charge of registra- tion and Mrs. Bert Craig heads the committee to serve the pot luck lunch, Plans were made to assist serving 'meals at ' the plowing Match. Representatives to the 'hobby show, Mrs. Lawlor and, Mrs. Roy Easom also re- ported. A centennial project for the \1� ..'i was discussed and plans -will be made at a later da te. In the report of- the saving labels for the coffee maker, it was pointed out that all of the labels be saved. Some are hand- ing in the wrong part of the label. It was decided to order centennial spoons to have for sale. Mrs. William J. Mrs. Thomas Haggitt was the winner. Mrs. George Schneider won the door prize and a piano solo was played by Mrs. James Jackson. A reading entitled Grandmothers was given by Mrs. Thomas Hag- gitt. Each girl told the supper menu she had planned at home during the past week. The lead - ex discussed the importance of the. use of vegetables, cereals and fruits in the daily diet. Brenda Ball and Diane Kirk- connell demonstrated - how to - prepare raw fruit for a fruit cup. Mrs. F. Raithby spoke on the way to make coddled apples and prune sponge with a custard sauce. These were later served at the close of the meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Peter of. Kincardine recently visited with Mrs.' Beth Lansing. Jean- MacLennan of Toronto visited last week with her fri- end Margaret R Ja . lison. Robert -Arthur; and daughter Jayne spent ,the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Carl Mills and fam- ily at Lion's Head. Mr.. and Mrs. Clayton Robert- son spent the weekend with his father Mr. J. J. Robertson and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wil- liam Straughan. A large crowd attended the benefit dance Friday evening for Mr. and Mrs. John Hallam, Mait- land Block, Huilett Township, who lost their barn by fire. ec©nize Pianist's Service, Medical Student Given Gift The regular meeting of the afternoon auxiliary of the W.M.S. of Knox Presbyterian Church was Sept. 20. The presi- dent Mrs. A. Enright opened the meeting with Gthe call to wor- ship and presided for the busi- ness Session. The minutes of the June meeting and the September ex- ecutive meeting were read and approved. The resignation of Miss E. Somerville as pianist was received. A letter of ap- preciation will. be sent for her interest in all the work of the society, and as pianist especially, for a number of years. Mrs. B. Bisset read a letter of thanks from Miss Edith Tay- lor of Toronto, and an air letter from Miss Ida White of the Bhil field in India. She sent her thanks for the used Christmas cards.
