Last week in Stratford Les-

Commission's project officer
for the Confederation Cara-
vans' and Trains, explained
how community_ organizations
and individuals can contribute
to these travelling displays of
Canadian history:
When the ,Caravan arrives
in Goderich it will form itself
into a court at the agricultural
grounds.
Mr. Maiden said the histo-
rical displays, home -created
items of historical interest,
including , confections made
according to old recipes' can be.
displayed around the outside
perimeter of the court.
He assured that every effort
will be made to keep com-

from June 8 to 15. Incidentally
its whistle plays 0' Canada.

tractor -trailers, three station
wagons and .a staff of 28 per-
sons.
The caravans will make a
total of 144 stops in Ontario
and 857 in Canada.
With an overall staff 'of
224 the caravans are expected
to inject more than a million
dollars into the local economy
through the purchase of meals,
hotel accommodation and
gasoline. More than 123,600
meals and 4.1,200 beds will be
required by the time all eight
caravanscom,plete their tour.
During the second week of
June, test -run, set-up and dis-
mantling trials were held for
the caravans at communities
in the Ottawa area.,
The first eight tractor trail-
ers—the largest vehicles ever
to be used extensively on N.
American roads—travelled to
Ottawa from Calgaryewhere
the vans were made by the
Alberta Trailer Company. The
73 -foot vehicles will visit more
than 700 Canadian commun-
ities in the Centennial year.
The setting up -6f the cara-

• The 88 drivers who will
be specially trained and under
contract for the eight Cara=

to park the vans with the

so matching ramps a n d
bridges can be placed quickly
to connect the vans .on the
site. This ramp 'arrangement
allows centennial visitors to
move easily through the huge
trailers and view the exhibits

Outside the trailers in the
quadrangle, large j,riodesic

which will be placed the ex-

two hours—the complete set
is on site ready for a colorful
