'The Maitland Country Club
annual women's Invitation Tour-
nament was held Aug. 10 -With
a field of 49.
Mrs. Bea Martin of Stratford
was the winner of the Dow-
Kingsbeer Trophy this year.
Mrs. Martin, although nearly al-
ways in the prize list, has never
'von the trophy before, but this
year she turned in an 39 to take
the honors_

old who 'won the Kincardine

A smorgasbord supper was
served 'by Betty Jones and her
staff, after -which Pro Bob Deor-
ksen officiated at the prize -giv-
ing, assisted by sports captain,
Marie Huff.
Flo Cutt and Donna Sproule
looked after the Registration,
and Peg Wood was hostess for
the out-of-towners. Rules com-
mittee consisted of the ,Pro,
' Marie. Huff and Bess Smith.
The Maitland Trophy, which
is a ladies' handicap event; was
played for Aug. 6th. There were
10 entries who found -it pretty
warm going under a cloudless
sky,
The winner of this event was
Mrs. Edna Overholt, with
'Maxine Martin a close runner-
up.
The following . Tuesday night
saw 12 entries and the winners
here were.; Shirley Skelton,
Marg Evans, Mrs. Q. Bruce and
Marie fluff. Peg Wood had her
best .score yet and , was pre-
sented with a medal for "Action
Above and Beyond the Call of
Duty." Peg Wodd-and Flo Cult
are.. two enthusiastic newcom-
ers to golf this year, and if de-
termination means anything,
they will soon be up there with
tile tops.

August meeting of 'the 1,1.C,W.
was held last Tuesday,1at thee
home of Mrs. Edward Robinson
with a good attendance. Mrs.
Murray Wilson opened the meet-
ing with, the .hyankaf: ` ome Olill-
dren, Join and Sing." The Scrip;
ture Psalm 23 was read in unix
son. Mrs. Wilson led in, prayer.
Mrs. Tom Armstrong conduct-
ed the business. It was decided
to send a $5.00 donation to
Goderich Summer School. A
new card catalogue was shown
and a quantity ordered for the'
members. The offering was re-
ceived. "All the happy children"
was sung and Mrs. Armstrong
took charge of the' study book,
and a discussion followed. After
singing "Holy Spirit, Hear Us",
Mrs. Wilson closed the meeting

gathered at Harbour Park last
Thursday for its annual picnic.
President, Mrs. R. Wilson
presided for short business
meeting. Two minutes silence
was observed in memory' of
Mrs. W. F. Price, past officer.
Several items of business were
discussed, namely a bus trip,
ploughing match in October,
centennial ideas, all voted lift
over. till September meeting.
Several games were played,
then W,I. members sat down to a
bountiful picnic supper. W.I.
Grance was sung first. .

BENMILL R. —The annual
piu p.- of the Forester Lodge of
Benmiller was held in the
school grounds on July 24 with
a goad,. attendance. Races and
Contests were follower by a
pot luck supper. '
BAYFIELD CLUB
The Bayfield 4-H Dairy Calf
Club held its August meeting
At the farm of Fredyodden. A
class of cows was judged and
demonstrations on fitting and
showing a calf were given. The
lesapn on the `SHistory and
Breed of Cattle" was discussed
and a quiz followed.
