Goderich, died July 28. He is
survived by his wife, the former
Florence. Widmeyer, a son,
James and two brothers, Harvey,
Wiarton and James, Shallow

IMERS. ROBERT AWN=
A funeral was held Thursday
for Mrs. Robert Arthur, 47, in
Knox United Church with Rev.
John Wheeler officiating.
' Mrs. Arthur, the former Irene
Mildred Taylor,» was born at
Wiarton, daughter of Mrs.. Mar-
garet Taylor of Granton and the
late Fred Taylor. She died in
Clinton hospital on August 8th.
She was a member of Knox
United Church and was secre-
tary of the U.C.W. of that
church. She was also a member
of the Auburn Horticultural
Society. Besides her mother and
her husband she is survived by
two sons, George, Toronto; John,
London; two daughters, Mrs.
John (Margaret) Boer, Lake -
worth Cal., and Jayne, at home;
two sisters, Mrs. Wilda Clat-
worthy, Granton; Mrs. Ben
(Hazel) " Park, Dungannon;
brothers, Frederick, Erie, Mich.;
Stanley, Hamilton; Stuart, Nile;
Raymond, Welland; George, Lon-
don.
Burial took place in Ball's
cemetery. Pallbearers were Gor-
don Dobie, Carl Mills, Raymond
Hallahan, Thomas Johnston,
Bert Doran and John Artn.

THOMAS L. PREST
Former Goderich b a n k e r,
Thomas Linwood Prest, 77, of
26 Bruce St., died in Alexandra
Marine and General hospital,
Friday, and was buried in Mait-
land Cemetery, Monday, fol-
lowing a funeral at Stiles Fu-
neral Home.
Mr. Prest was born in Mc-
Gillivray Tpwnship, son of the
late Thomas Prest and Jane
Craven. He attended public and
high school in Parkhill.
Ha lived in several Ontario
centres and 20 years in SiSka.t.
chewan. He was a manager with
the Canadian Bank Of Com-
merce for 42 years, retiring in
1946. He was a member of St.
George's Anglican Murch
• His Wife, the former Helen
Shephard, died in February,
1952. He is survived by three
sons, Tom Albert, „Winnipeg;
William M., Goderich, and
James E., R.R. 5 Goderich.
Rev. G. E. Pakenham officiat-
ed at the funeral and pallbear-
ers were Donald 0. Rook, Park-
hill; , Sherman Blake, Arnold
McConnell, Ray Gilders, Robert
Hays, Maurice Wilkinson,, all
of Goderich.
PORTER'S HILL
PORTER'S H1LL.-The • Aug-
ust meeting of the, U.C.W. was
held at the home of Mrs. T.
Sowerby. The, president, Mrs.
Sturdy opened the meeting and
Mrs. A. Betties had charge of
the devotional period. Hymn
493 was sung. Reading by Mrs.
Bottles and prayer. The study
book was taken by Mrs. Elgin
Cox the topic being, "What
makes a man Great." The sec-
relary's repot... arid corresond-
ence was read by Mrs. Lockhart
and the treasurer's report was
read by Mrs. Sotwerby. Various
committees reported and the
final plans to cater to a
wedding were made. 'Meeting
closed with the Mizpah bene-
diction and the hostess served

Aug. 6, for the double ring, cere-
mony, uniting in marriage

Garry Charles Felton. Rev. Don-
ald MacDonald officiated.
The bride is the daughter of.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilfrid Dockstad-
er, Goderich, and the groom's
parents are Mr. and Mrs. Chas.
Felton, Toronto.
Mrs. Ruth Bertelmann, Cald
Lake,' sister of the bride, sang
"The Lord's Pray'er" and "The
Wedding Prayer."
Given; in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a full-
length gown of white French -
cut velvet. Her elbow -length,
three-tier veil of silk illusion,
fell from' a daisy seed pearl
circlet and her bouquet was a
crescent of white roses and
green iyy.
Miss Legros, Sioux
Lookout, was maid of honor and
bridesmaids were Mrs. Marlene
Coady, Burlington, sister of the
groom, and Miss Patricia Simp-
son, Goderich. They were attired
alike in white lace over forest
green taffeta, empire -style, with
crescent bouquets of yellow
shasta mums and *green ivy.
Misses Karin and Sheila Ber-
telmann, nieces of the bride,
were flower girls, . wearing,
gowns identical to those of the
bridesmaids, and carried minia-
ture baskets of yellow mums.
Groomsman was Mr. Norrie
MacDonald, Sioux Lookout, and
length gown with accessories
matching those of the bride's
attendants.
• The bridei inother wore a
powder blue . lace dress with
white' accessories, and ' the
groom's mother wore a dress of
chartreuse chiffon with white
chartreuse accessories.
The' best /tan was Phillip
Chaisson, with ushers Fred
Dickson, „Buddy Bazemore and
Kevin Derrett.
Out-of-town guests from To-
ronto were Mrs. Mary Dickson,
Fred Dickson, Mrs. Jeannette
Johnson and son Brian, Mr. and
Mrs. Roy Shutler, Ann and Don-
ald, Shutler of Hamilton, all
relatives of the groom.
After the ceremony, a re-
ception was held in the grounds
of the Pilot House Club.
DOCKSTADER
ushers were Mr. Ted Pelton,
Tarento,-brather a the groom,
and Mr. Paul Dockstader, Gode-
rieh, brother of the bride.
The, bride's mother received
her guests at the Maitland Coon,
try Club wearing turquoise bfto- .
cade with matching tulle hat,
white accessories and corsage
of pink rosebuds. The groom's
mother wore, pink crepe with
white accessories, and a' corsage
of pink rosebuds.
Guests were from Sioux
Lookout, Iroquois Falls, Toron-
to, Oshawa, Burlington, London,
Dorchester, Appin, Goderich,
Kitchener and Wingham.
For a wedding trip to Cali-
fornia and British Columbia, the
bride changed to a dress of
green and turquoise flowered
crepe, with black patent acces-
sories.
They will' reside in Sioux
Lookout,. where the bride, is on
the staff of the public school.
A person in his .early 40's
can begin "training" for old age
by taking regular exercises and
developing an interest in hob-
bies.
