The seventh -annual Bazaar of anembersh.p tickets,
and tea for Huronview, Clinton
was held last week.
More than 200 visitors from
across Huron Ceunty attenided,
the event, sponsored by the
Huronview Auxiliary to the
cqunty , home for senior . citi-
zens,
Receiving guests were Mrs.
Louis Forest,, Clinton, president;
and Mrs Hakrvey, ,.Johnson, Clin-
ton, wife of the superintendent.
The event was officially opened
by Mrs. C. A, Trott, Clinton.

Under the direction of Mrs.
*Mary Mellis, Kiplien, Crafts in-
structor, and Mrs, Joseph Wild,
Clinton, adjuvant, the residents
made ea of is including . -candle
holders, ornate flower pots, hat
boxes, cushions, hooked rugs,
embr:,idcred pillow slips and
linen tea towels, stuffed anis
mals, aprons, a variety of chi],
dren's clothes, and several ap-
pliqued quilts.
Proceeds of the event are`
divided three • ways. The . resi-
dents who make bazaar articles,
receive one-third of the selling
price, one-third gee to the craft
room for new supplies .and a
third is . directed tidWa -ds the
enter!ain,ment of residents.
Mrs. W. C. Bennett, Clinton,
convened the tea room where
guests. were registered by Mrs.
Earl Noble„ Blyth. The tea table,
centred with an arrangement
of tulips • and iris ;was covered
thy abanquet size lace cloth,
hand crocheted by the late Mrs.
Martha Jacob, who served .as
matron of the home for 33 years.
Pouring tea were Mrs. Ken-
neth Stewart, Seaforth, wife of
the :'ardet of Huron County;
Mrs, Ernest Snell, 13elgrave,
whose husband is chairman of
the Huronview board; Mrs. C. S.
MacNaughton Exeter, wife of
Ontario highways minister, and
Mrs. Robert McKinley, Zurich,
wife of the member of parlia-
ment for Huron.

county Tuberculosis Association
at its annual meeting in Blyth

ments, the Professions and
Canadian Associations for Re-
tarded Childr°en'who are jointly
making a National Crusade for
Canada's Mentally ' Retarded.
Federal and provincial grants
are providing $10,000,000; the
public are being asked for an-
other $5,000,00. The total Will
finance 13 individual projects
across Canada to make, a co-
ordinated and comprehensive
assault on an affliction which
handicaps -about three per Dent
of the population.

these children and young adults

ful. Nor can we let them swim
or go boating without extra
precautions," said Mrs. Braaten.
"Virtually all (trainable .re-
tardeds, barring the severely
physically handicapped, can be
taught to swim, to skate, to play,
sports,", she said. About a
thousand' retarded children have
learned to swim competently at
the eight special summer camps
across Ontario; thaw ands mere
in winter programs in muni-
cipal and "Y" pools. More than
a thousand have been taught
to skate; and some play a modi-
fied game ofhockey, In East
York, Fort Erie, Kenora, Fort
William, Wallaceburg and Walk-
erton there - are weekly skating
programs- for these youngsters
at the' Retarded Association
schools.
