son opened the meeting with
the 4-H pledge followed by the
minutes read 1 y Jill Bennett.
Mrs. Ed Davies led in a dis-
cussion on hats and told how
they should be cared for. She
demonstrated what kind of a
hat they should look for accord-
ing to their features. She show-
ed the girls how they• could
restore a wilted veil. Mrs:.
Frank Raithby spoke on how to.
care 'for scarves.
Mrs. Bradnock spoke on the
selection and cite of shoes and
how they can dress up a cos-
tume.
Mrs. Davies demonstrated how
to make and 'mock ,the headsize
ribbon and- told how to steam
off hats. The meeting closed
with the 4-H Creed.

'Saints Alive" Theme
For Anglican .Women
"Saints Alive" was the sub-
ject of discussion and study at
a recent meeting for leaders
held in London in• preparation
for the. annual Diocesan ;Work-
shop. foi Anglican women which
is taking place at Huron College
the last weekend in May. ,
This is Ile theme 'for the
workshop and it was thoroughly
discussed, along with methods
of study, with the director, 'the
Rev. Donald E. .Bodley, Ph.D.,
of 'the Diocese of Michigan.
Twenty-six- were in attendance
from various parts of the •Dio-
cese of Huron.
A workshop in • Christian re-
sponsibility, the program in May
was planned to deal with typical
'problems of 'inner-city, subur-
ban, . small _town- and rural par
ishe's. The Right Rev. _G. " N.
Luxton, Bishop of "Huron, will
attend on the Sunday, when he
will address the' final afternoon
gathering of the whole assem-
a•
bly. Three clergy of the D.io,
cese will also be present to as-
sist as resource persons for this
study. -
An exceptionally large attend-
ance is expected this year from
throughout Huron Diocese an,
a number of interested Anglican
women from other dioceses have
already signified their intention
of attending.
This workshop, of which this
will be the eighth annual ,ses-
sion, has become widely known
for its challenging and effective
methods of study, and in Dr.
Bodley, it has an eminent dir-
ector of wide experience inrthds.

program opens on., Friday even-
ing, May 27, following a welcom-
ing afternoon tea and dinner.

Hoid Annual Banquet
The annualbanquet of the
Huron County Fruit Growers'.
Association was held recently
in the 100F Hall, Clinton with
a good attendance.
Thera., were many special
guests • present including the
wives- of the fruit growers and
Hugh Hill, Goderich.
At1the head table were: past
president, Edward Wise and
Mrs. Wise and Mr. and Mrs.
James Shearer, Bright. Mr.
Wise••acted as chairman. Dur-
ing the banquet a sing -song was
condilcted by Bob Thompson,
Forest, with Mrs. W. A. Mc-
Guire at the piano.
According t:) long-established
custom, the Fruit Growers sang
"Happy Birthday, dear Mrs. Mc-
Guire" as they have done for
over 20 years.
The guest speaker was James
Shearer, a former Agricultural
Representative for Huron Coun-
ty, who took a great interest
in the Fruit Growers' organiz-
ation during his tenure of of-
fice... His... suoject was. "This
Half Hour' ' has Twenty -Twp
Years."
Mr., Shearer spoke hopefully
of a wonderful future for our
glorious country' of Canada,
which -'he deeply loves. "We
should stress the positive and
not the scandals and delinquents
and heti), Canada take her plaee
of greatness among the nations
of the world, and be a fit place
for our grandchildren."
To illustrate, he spoke of the
young people in their United
church in Bright taking the
whple ` Sunday church service
recently and doing a good job,
capably and reverently.
The Shearers have three
children, iheir son Stuart is
an RCMP officer in the West
and •they have two daughters,
Vi-r.-gini,a,----Mrs -.Bruce Bechtel;
New Dundee and Wendy a grade
13 student. The Shearers have
two grandsons and 'a grand-
daughter.
The speaker was introduced
by Stewart Middleton and thank-
ed by Fraser Stirling, Bayfield,
both past -presidents of the Hu-
ron Fruit Growers-
J. J. Johnson, London, was
signally honored on this occas-
ion. For ,'over 37 years, Mr.
Johnson has been in the employ
of the Canadian Department of
Agriculture and has been known
to the Fruit Growers as their
fruit -inspector.
Clayton Laithwaite, Goderich,
read an appropriate address and
'Mr. William i McGuire of Del-
Mac Farms presented..tzhe gift.

Farms, thanked the ladies of
the Huronic Rebekahs for the
delicious turkey dinner. All
