Star.
The newly -appointed scribes
are Jennifer Cook, Sue Bisset
and Judy Gardner.

porters by Monday noon.

The girls of Victor Lauriston
public school have launched
volleyball season under the dir-
ection of Mrs. D. Hayden.
Teams and captains are: Beat-
abl`es-Brenda Barker; Untouch-
ables—Sue Bisset, and Torrids—
Judy Jenkins.
A series of, gractice games

league matches will be under-
way.

Teachers' Convention
..All public school children are
.eagerly counting the days until
November 19 when for one
morning they can ignore alarm
clocks and mothers arid sleep in.
This is due to the fact that
all local public school teachers
will be attending a convention
in Seaforth on that day.

meeting was in charge -of Mrs,
Kay Simpson, the secretary.
The treasurer's report was
given by the treasurer; Mrs.
Ben Chisholm.
It was voted to have masses
celebrated in November for the
fallen comrades and the deceas-
ed members df the parish coun-
ell.
The Deceniber meeting will
feature a . pot luck supper, and
it is the league's hope that many
members will turn out for the
social gathering, and take part
in the meeting. Miss Eileen
O'Brien reported on' the , hos-
pital visits.
Mrs. Ben Chisholm invited
everyone present to attepd a
card party in tiie hall on Novem-
ber 10.
It was decidedto hold a bake
sale on December 4. Mrs:" R.
Buchanan is to be the convener
and lYie- sale'is tome""WTd-' at
Dehomme's Flower Shop.
Mrs. John Buchanan, convener
of the social hour. for the meet-
ing, chaired a successful variety
show. Those taking part in the
show were: Bill Bowers and
Ernie Good, who played western
rhustc; the Reaburn sisters, Jan-
ice and Maureen, entertained
with piano and accordion solos.
Mrs. A. Wisser gave a humor -
ons reading entitled, "St. Peter
at the Golden Gate," and 1Viary
Ruth Rush gave a demonstration
of Highland dancing accompan-
ied by Joe MacDonald on the
bagpipes.
The highlight of the show wad
a. fashion parade showing ladies
styles of dress from 1800 to the
present day.
Mrs. R. Buchanan was the
commentator and the music was
played by Mrs. Carl Sohne�'ker.

Elaine Leddy, Geraldine Leddy,
Phyllis Sterner, Diane Buchanan,

The -meeting was closed with
tea, coffee and cake served by
the lunch committee under the

Sherratt.

ricli received her nursing assist-
ant's diploma at graduation ex-
ercises held in the Beck Mem-
orial Sanatorium recreation hall,
London, last Friday. The course
was run by the Ontario Depart-
ment of Health.
