One of the months with the
bIat>CeSt statistics is July,lead-
ng with the highest number of
dt'owning's and traffic- accidents.
It is ' uoderstatchible that on
the Dominion Day holiday,
iv th its heat waves, the great
t znptation ,toget into the near-
est cool blue water is just too
for thQ average t✓ariadar'
child or adult.
There are many reasons for
the drownings that happen
this time -,---such as the non -
Swimmer who steps into the
water beyond his cdepth, or
thug ,es `0— cuance' mfr paad tag .a
canoe at which he is a novice.
There's the youngster who is
allowed to play on the dqck
without supervision, or the
fisherman who stands in his
boat and casts a little.'too en-
thusiastically at the moment
when the wind or the wash
from a powerboat tips his boat.
Most "experienced" people like
these scorn to wear a lifejacket.
It is etisier to enjoy this sum-
mer holiday in the country 'if
you literally watch your step
all day watch the traffic and
your driving, watch the
matches and cigarette . butts as
you walk through dry woods,
and, sin case your patriotism on
either the First or the Fourth
of Jt ly demands that you let
Qit fireworks, tame extra are
and retnember that children
should not be Vowed; to handle
these explosives—they t.aw°sev+
erely injure, themselves or start
a fire where thero is no fire
protection just a block away.

He said farmers should be
' allowed, -through' marketing

He cited the Ontario Bean

an example of. some of the
